Sneak Peek at Telltale's Next Season of 'The Walking Dead' Revealed at E3

Posted on June 12 by puzzlebox

On Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles, Telltale joined IGN to reveal the world's first sneak peek at the next season of 'The Walking Dead' series, set to premiere this fall.

It's just a brief glimpse, and we're not yet ready to confirm a whole lot about exactly what it means... but there's a lot of fodder in there for speculation.

So what CAN we say about this upcoming season? For a start, who's that guy with Clementine? His name is Javier. Yes, Clem returns and will play a key role, but this is a new story as much as it is a continuation of Seasons One and Two. Players completely new to the Telltale series will be able to jump right in without feeling lost at all, and those familiar with previous seasons will perhaps find some even deeper meaning, as we'll be working to ensure save file decisions will carry over from the last two games if you've played them in the past.

When it comes to Clementine, players' relationships with her have very much evolved over the course of Seasons One and Two. In Season One, it was all about playing a more paternal role and helping a little girl find her feet and the courage to survive in a world gone to hell. Season Two was about Clementine developing her skills and becoming more independent of the people around her. In this next season, she's in her early teens, and has grown to be a person who is clearly capable of handling herself - someone very much on the same level as Javier, a fellow survivor who has been through hell, and has managed to remain alive as long as Clem.

Clem has also been through a lot since we left her at the end of Season Two... and depending on the paths players may have taken with her in the past, she may or may not be exactly the same person we knew back then. You'll play as both Javier and Clementine through the course of the season, but exactly how that works is one of the exciting details we're not quite yet ready to reveal.

Be sure to check out that teaser, and let us know what you think! We're thrilled to be able to share this with you. Stay tuned for more info on this new season as we head towards the premiere this fall!

'BATMAN - The Telltale Series' Unveiled in First Look Ahead of Summer 2016 Premiere

Posted on June 12 by puzzlebox

Batman Telltale logo

The Telltale crew is down in Los Angeles for the annual E3 Gaming Expo... and today we can share the very first screens and cast details for the upcoming BATMAN - The Telltale Series ahead of its worldwide debut this summer!

Bruce Selina

The episodic series will premiere digitally on home consoles, PC/Mac, and mobile devices, and we'll be showing it privately to guests at E3 this coming week. The series will also be available on game consoles as a special 'Season Pass Disc' which will be available at retailers across North America, Latin America, and Europe later this summer, granting access to the five episode season as it becomes available for download.

Wayne Manor

Our CEO and Co-Founder Kevin Bruner had this to say about the upcoming series: "We've been hard at work at Telltale creating an all-new iteration of the iconic Batman story that puts players in the suit of billionaire Bruce Wayne, just as much as it will put them behind the mask, deciding how to carefully navigate a complex drama, rich with action, crime, corruption, and villainy lurking around every corner of Gotham City. The complex life and fractured psyche of Bruce Wayne has lent itself to becoming a bold evolution of the signature 'Telltale' role-playing experience, and we couldn't be more excited as we prepare to debut the series to players across the world this summer."

Batcave Batmobile

Rendered to look like a living, breathing comic book, Telltale's vision of Batman will feature an award-winning cast of talent, including Troy Baker in the role of Bruce Wayne, Travis Willingham as Harvey Dent, Erin Yvette as Vicki Vale, Enn Reitel as Alfred Pennyworth, Murphy Guyer as Lieutenant James Gordon, Richard McGonagle as Carmine Falcone, and Laura Bailey as Selina Kyle. We'll be able to reveal additional cast and characters as the season progresses.

Look to Telltale's channels on Facebook and Twitter for more news from E3 as it happens!

Interview with ‘The Walking Dead’ Creator Robert Kirkman

Posted on April 25 by kenjisalk

With the finale of The Walking Dead: Michonne right around the corner, we’re thrilled to share with you an intriguing interview with series creator Robert Kirkman.

In the video, he speaks on the depth and complexity of Michonne and what makes her a long-lasting fan favorite in such an immensely celebrated series, as well as reveals the first details of the third season of The Walking Dead Telltale series.

While we can’t share too much just yet, Robert reveals that Season 3 will take place roughly in the same timeline of the current comics and will go more hand-in-hand with the comics than ever before.

Another exciting bit of information is that the third season will be checking in on fan favorite Clementine, “seeing where she’s at and what’s going on with her, which is going to be great”. While it’s too early to go into further detail, we’re beyond thrilled for a return to such an incredibly beloved character that fans the world over have connected with.

With The Walking Dead: Michonne’s finale ‘What We Deserve’ arriving this week and Season 3 on the horizon to premiere later in 2016, it’s an exciting time for fans of The Walking Dead, and we can’t wait to share more details in the coming months!

'The Walking Dead: Michonne' Miniseries Finale Trailer

Posted on April 21 by puzzlebox

The Walking Dead: Michonne miniseries finale is just DAYS away! Episode 3 - 'What We Deserve' arrives Tuesday, April 26th on all platforms (that's PC/Mac, Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, iOS, and Android). Check out the trailer for a look at the climactic conclusion we've been building towards since the premiere episode.

Without spoiling too much... something that very much comes to light in the finale is that beyond all the action, at its core this miniseries has always been about how Michonne chooses to deal with the reality of the horrors she's endured - not horrors in the form of the undead, but in her haunting regret of abandoning her own family, and her inability to protect those that she loved most.

And a note to those who might not have been keeping up with these episodes as they release: the entire miniseries is great to play all the way through in just a single sitting. So if you're yet to jump in with the premiere, playing all three episodes together post-finale is a fantastic way to catch up!

Look for the third and final episode this coming Tuesday, when The Walking Dead: Michonne delivers 'What We Deserve'. ;)

First Details on Telltale’s BATMAN Series Discussed at SXSW

Posted on March 18 by puzzlebox

Batman: A Telltale Games Series logo

The team at Telltale hit the stage in Austin at the SXSW Gaming Expo today along with Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller, to come out of hiding and talk details about the upcoming series based on BATMAN for the very first time. While development has been moving along swiftly over the last year, production on in-game visuals for all of Telltale’s series always tends to come together closer to launch, as the writers and designers spend their time focusing very heavily on the story and script first and foremost.

Batman script photo

It’s still too soon to show any scenes from the game, but the team was happy to confirm that players can expect to see it closer to its upcoming premiere which is slated for THIS SUMMER! Additional details gathered from the panel were as follows:

  • Batman is the perfect character for the studio to explore in a Telltale series, giving the team the opportunity to dive deeper into the mind of the man behind the mask. Each night, Bruce Wayne chooses to change Gotham for the better. The team wants to explore what the consequences are of the player’s actions when decisions made as Bruce have a critical impact on his nightly crusade as Batman, and vice versa. Certain key situations will give the player the decision to approach a scene as Bruce or Batman, with consequences for both sides.

  • Fresh interpretation of the universe set in current times, not tied to any existing iteration of Batman in games, film, or comics. Story will focus on Bruce and Batman, not an examination of the extended 'Bat-family,' (Robin, Nightwing, etc.) Fans can expect certain series staples such as Alfred Pennyworth, Vicki Vale, James Gordon, and Renee Montoya. Telltale is looking to keep the villains more tightly under wraps until closer to the premiere.

  • Certain characters will have a deeply personal relationship with Bruce in his private life, and decisions made as Bruce or Batman will affect their paths towards corruption or redemption.

  • The player's actions will help shape the Gotham that Bruce deals with during the day, as well as the criminals that Batman faces at night.

  • Team is committing to a non-photorealistic interpretation of the universe, enhancing engine and technology to deliver a more seamless living comic book art direction. Taking inspiration from the works of over 75 years of artists such as Jim Lee, Greg Capullo, and Neal Adams.

  • Like some other Telltale series, the game will be landing at M (Mature 17+) rating, and the cinematic approach will feel more akin to an R-rated film.

‘The Walking Dead: Michonne' Episode 2 - 'Give No Shelter' arrives March 29th

Posted on March 14 by kenjisalk

enter image description here

Today we can announce that ‘Give No Shelter,’ the second episode in ‘The Walking Dead: Michonne’ miniseries, will be available starting Tuesday, March 29th on ALL platforms - PC/Mac, Xbox, PlayStation, and mobile!

We don’t want to spoil too much, but here’s a little primer for what’s to come. In this tense second chapter, a daring escape from the floating colony of Monroe sees Michonne, Pete, and Sam running for their lives. An all too brief reprieve is soon shattered; the leaders of Monroe don't forgive and don't forget. With memories of her daughters bleeding ever further into Michonne's blurred reality, her world is becoming increasingly fractured... just at the point when she'll need all of her skills to survive.

Once this nail-biting chapter unfolds, you won’t have to wait long to see how your story concludes. The third and final episode, 'What We Deserve', arrives in April.

Also, ahead of the release of ‘Give No Shelter’, check out this brand-new “Your Choices” video to re-live some of the difficult decisions you had to make in the premiere episode. In case you missed it earlier this week, check out the launch trailer below as well. Just a little peek at the kind of psychological strangeness you'll discover with Michonne through the three episodes of this miniseries...

Remember, while this miniseries is perfect for those who already know and love the iconic character Michonne, there's absolutely NO prior knowledge of the comics, TV show, or Telltale titles required to play. This story is a separate, standalone experience, which makes it a great place to jump into the franchise with an awesome character.

The Walking Dead: Michonne - Episode 1 ‘In Too Deep’ Launch Trailer

Posted on February 22 by kenjisalk

The Walking Dead: Michonne’s premiere episode ‘In Too Deep’ arrives THIS WEEK! Don't miss the trailer, which gives a look at what’s in store for our blade-wielding zombie slayer.

Having recently left her previous group, Michonne joins Pete and his crew on their sailing ship The Companion, aiding in their search for fellow survivors and supplies. Responding to a distress call, they stumble upon a the scene of a horrifying massacre. The search for the culprit leads the group to a floating colony called Monroe, which may be harboring the person responsible for the carnage. Michonne must wrestle with dangerous factions as well as her inner demons in her fight for survival.

It’s going to be an intense look into the fractured psyche of one of The Walking Dead's most iconic characters. Be sure to check it out!

NOTE: We’ve been getting a lot of questions about this exciting new series, so here are a few points to clarify. The Walking Dead: Michonne Miniseries is a completely separate, stand-alone experience, and requires zero knowledge of The Walking Dead games or comics (we totally recommend checking the comics though - they're FANTASTIC). No previous save files are needed, and the story stands apart from Clem and Lee’s.

So whether you’re a long term fan of The Walking Dead or looking for a place to dive in with the series, Michonne’s story is a great place to dive in!

‘The Walking Dead: Michonne – A Telltale Miniseries’ Extended Preview

Posted on February 14 by kenjisalk

With just a little over a week away from the premiere of The Walking Dead: Michonne, we’re excited to share with you a sneak peek of what’s in store for this harrowing series.

In this extended preview prologue, we step into the role of world-weary sword wielding Michonne for the first time. Having recently left her people, and haunted by her past, Michonne goes on her own to deal with her inner demons. Throughout the miniseries, players will go on a heart-stopping journey to discover the source of a brutal massacre, dealing with threats both alive and undead. By the end of the saga, players will find out what drove her away from Rick, Carl and the rest of the group, and what ultimately brought her back

Michonne has been a fan favorite here at Telltale. Her depth and emotional complexity is rivaled only by her skill with a blade. This miniseries is the perfect opportunity to explore new facets of an already rich and compelling character through a time in her life not detailed prior.

While familiarity with the original comic books is not required, we highly recommend checking them out (they are OUTSTANDING). The Walking Dead: Michonne miniseries is a great place to start with both the series and character, and is a stand-alone story and download that doesn’t require previous save files or knowledge of the other games or comics to enjoy.

We can’t wait for everyone to experience the bloody action and tense drama when the premiere episode ‘In Too Deep’ arrives for download on February 23rd! The second episode will follow in March, and conclude in April not long afterward. 2016 is looking to be a VERY big year of the undead at Telltale!

In this premiere episode, 'In Too Deep,' Michonne joins Pete and his crew on the sailing ship The Companion as they cruise the coast for survivors and supplies. When a desperate signal for help draws them to a scene of horrific massacre, Michonne and the crew are lead further to the floating survivors' colony of Monroe, which may just be harboring the person responsible for the carnage.

The Walking Dead: Michonne - A Telltale Miniseries stars the iconic, blade-wielding character from Robert Kirkman's best-selling comic books, portrayed in-game by award-winning actress Samira Wiley (Orange is the New Black). Haunted by her past, and coping with unimaginable loss and regret, the story explores Michonne across a three episodes of miniseries event. Players will dive into the mind of Michonne to discover what took her away from Rick, Carl, and the rest of her trusted group... and what brought her back.

enter image description here

Ahead of its release, fans are invited to get an exclusive extended preview of the first episode of the series on Youtube.com/TelltaleGames this Sunday February 14th at 8:30pm EST / 5:30pm PST. The development team will introduce the series allowing fans to experience the first five minutes of the premiere episode, exploring Michonne's struggle to remain among the living while being haunted by her past.

enter image description here

Michonne has always been among our favorite and most complex characters in the world of Robert Kirkman and Skybound’s comic series, which just celebrated its 150th issue this past month! You don’t need to have read the comics to enjoy the miniseries, nor do you need to have played the past two seasons of the game, but the comics are at the heart of the universe and we certainly hope you’ll be inspired by Michonne to dive into the series. (Seriously, the comics are really f-cking good! If you haven’t read them yet, what are you waiting for?)

enter image description here

The Telltale team has been very hard at work in the world of the undead, and while a full third season of The Walking Dead is also currently deep in development, we don’t expect to be able to share any details until after this miniseries concludes. What we can say is that we expect this to be our biggest year for The Walking Dead we’ve ever had, and we’re excited to share this decidedly very different story with Michonne that will explore some themes we’re truly excited about bringing to the interactive space. So tune into our Youtube channel this Sunday for an extended preview, and set your sights on February 23rd for the long-awaited return of The Walking Dead!
