I surprisingly really like Amanda Waller!

I play my Batman as very ruthless, he's going to do whatever he deems necessary and doesn't give a damn about what anyone thinks. So going into TEW I thought that I was going to be really anti Agency but when I realized that Waller and my Batman had very similar mindsets my playstyle changed into pro Waller. I'm really enjoying Waller's relationship with Batman. I think it can be summed up by "He's my monster." It's so interesting this way! I remember a scene where Gordon was saying how ruthless the agency is and I'm just thinking "Gordon, do you even know who you're talking to?" XD
I even like her if you're anti Waller. I love that line where she's like "Thunderbolt? I'm the whole goddamned hurricane."

What do you think about Waller so far? Personally she's grown on me very fast.

  • I've personally never liked her, and the ending of the first season really rubbed me the wrong way. What, she just blames us when it was obviously her agents' fault that they got caught in the mess on the ship. As Batman, I managed to save ALL 3 of them and she's still pissed at me. And Gordon too for no apparent reason. At this point, I think my Bruce actually prefers John Doe over her. Her agents are cool, but not really smart, they still haven't caught Riddler.

But I agree, she has some great one-liners.

  • I didn't like how Gordon and Montoya seemed to develop amnesia. They were acting like my Batman was super nice, but I was impaling fools and breaking arms every chance I got in the first season. Waller is refreshing, and I hope the rest of the season lets you continue to be that way.

  • I dont like how she treats Gordon (who I see as a very good man) but I appreciate how she wants to let my Batman be brutal in order to get the bad guys. It's kind of a no brainer that criminal scum need to fear Batman and it is refreshing to not have to justify myself for once.

  • We're never going to get along. I play a style where I won't go against Gordon and I play by the book.

  • I like her character, presenting as both a threat and a powerful ally at once, despite my Bruce practically disagreeing with her methods.

  • I'm always going to put myself on the side of gordon, since he was the only police of gotham that could be trusted, helped us with harvey, penguin, lady arkham and for following the philosophy of movies and comics of batman.

  • I like Gordon. I'd go so far as to say I trust Gordon. However, I'm committing to working cooperatively with Amanda Waller. If both sides were completely transparent with each other, and knew what the other knew - the Riddler would've been apprehended sooner. The blame's not all on Gordon - but him not phoning in reinforcements I actually do agree with Waller likely caused the Riddler's initial escape. Batman nearly had him on the first encounter. Lucius would still be with us.

If we'd known one of her agents had gone missing prior to stumbling on his corpse while we were locked in a trap, the harm caused to Avesta, Blake, and Patrick might've been prevented. It's a long shot, but all of the agents dead or injured were that way because of following up on leads without enough backing.

I like that there's no clear 'good guy and bad guy' in this scenario, even if there's a foreboding sense that working with Waller's going to come with a high price. That's only off of information that I possess as a fan, not that Batman has on tap. It might not even apply. This is TellTale's version, and nothing is always exactly what it seems.

What I really admire is that doing ' the right thing ' will occasionally have dire consequences. That's a reflection of real life that most writers aren't willing or wanting to tackle. Telling the truth can still cause harm. Sometimes the justice system we know is just a revolving door, and there's a dark part of each of us that occasionally feels like people don't always get what they deserve for what they've done.

  • I don't know much about her character, but I have a feeling in my guts that working with Agency won't end well. I'd rather work with Gordon whom I trust 100%.

  • I'm going to trust Gordon completely, maybe trusting the agency can be good or bad, but that will be seen with the passage of episodes, usually it is usually in episode 3 when everything gives a turn of 180 in the stories Of telltale. In the games of telltale games you can not stay neutral, never, I know from experience, with this gordon and the agency, sooner or later forced you to make a decision and affect one or the other. Already happened with game of thrones, the walking dead, between Lily and Kenny, that small democracy they had in the group, and if you make the decision to trust the agency, gordon will call you a soldier or traitor, instead if you choose to trust more In gordon, the agency will distance itself more from the case or something will happen, I do not know, as I said, all this will be seen with the end of the episodes, but I consider myself loyal to commissioner gordon.

  • An example that can serve, is the episode 1 of season 1 of batman: telltale series, when you were asked to reveal the source of Falcone to dismantle everything and put it behind bars, you were given a choice between publishing the news on television and newspapers, Vicki Vale, or directly give it to Jim Gordon, what happened? That vicki is worth turning out to be something that nobody expected ... Maybe with the agency may happen something like this, although I do not think so ...

  • I like her personality, but I don't like that she's a Fed and assumes I should trust her, considering the Agency's history.

  • I think Amanda Waller is going to want her to work for her and cooperate because she '' supposedly '' knows that he is Wruce Wayne.

  • I'm surprised people are trusting Waller this much when she's a notorious POS. I'm not sure how they presented her in the movie, but trusting Waller is a no-no.

  • My impression of Waller is influenced by Waller on Arrow the tv show. She's no good on that show. Also, I don't like her pro abuse/torture stance. I am not playing Bats as ruthless and I don't like people influencing him to be otherwise. Mine is merciful.

  • I love Waller too. I knew I made a good choice when I saw in the choices, "because you decided to go to her instead of Gordon, she is looking forward to working with you".

  • Her just finding out who Batman really is rubs me the wrong way. But that line about her being a goddamn hurricane made me laugh my ass off.

My mind was so fried with this point (plus Joker, plus Lucius's daughter, plus Bruce's approaches).
On one side you know the Agency will be useful, on the other hand I don't want to let Gordon down. I try to stick to the comics as much as I can, and I know that Batman wouldn't associate with crooks, but I also know he wouldn't let his personal feelings to be in the way of tackling down a villain.

So, I stayed loyal to Gordon and didn't disclose to the agency (since the agency seemed to be keeping valuable info from us too -think of the agent killed in the water tower thing), I defended gordon, and then told Wallace that joker is involved.

  • We have to wait a little and see what role the agency plays in all this before trusting them, for now we must trust Gordon.

  • Agreed. It's not like Wallace wants us to trust her anyhow, with the whole SUP BRUCE thing.

Waller knowing who Bruce is, this could be a good thing in the end. I didn't like how she treated Gordon, which was a main reason for me to dislike her initially, but I think if Bruce plays this right then he could have a powerful ally with the added benefit of not having to be lying all the time. And the best part, because I don't think she's his type, is that he could have a friendship with an intelligent woman - one who is not going to be a sexual/romantic partner. Plus she's unlikely to be a damsel in distress (as many of his love interests have been), or a crazy lunatic adversary like Ivy or Harley Quin. This development could be VERY good.

So... yeah, I changed my mind about Waller. I've been thinking about terrorists and terrorism lately in relation to this game. I'm still torn on torture, but when it comes to terrorists? I don't want any mercy shown to them, and I would definitely put Riddler in the category of terrorist. If Eli Knable isn't one, then he is an enabler/accomplice. In my last playthrough I beat up Knable, and didn't feel bad. He was gleeful when talking about people in Gotham dying as a result of those missiles - so he's no innocent, plus he was more than willing to kill Bruce (and does if you don't dodge the wrench) when ordered to by Riddler. F*ck Knable.

  • Does Waller's presence suggest that we are seeing the Sucide Squad at some point soon?

  • I highly doubt it. I suppose a dlc is possible by using the members of the pact. Harley, Bane, Hugo Strange and whoever else is in the pact could possibly be used in such a dlc but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

  • Gotcha, I'm not very knowledgable on Batman canon but I thought her main "thing" was putting together the Suicide Squad? Maybe she will serve a completely different purpose in the Telltale canon.

  • Suicide Squad is what she's most known for but I don't think that's the only thing she's been involved in. I'm not very knowledgeable about the character either.

  • Safe not to make too many assumptions anyhow. This is Telltale's universe.
