MW3: A Fool and His Money are soon parted

I was on IGN this Morning When I Found this article of interest containing The Following:
"A leaked copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been sold on eBay for $1,725.

Unauthorized copies of the game were mistakenly released into the wild this week, when a retailer placed the game on sale. MW3 is not due to be officially released until November 8th.

One copy of the game was placed on eBay and has been picked up for nearly 29 times the retail price of the game. It received a total of 88 bids.

But early play may carry an additional price. Xbox Live's Director of Policy and Enforcement for Stephen Tolouse warned that playing the game online pre-release could result in a ban. He tweeted, "Pre-release play not authorized. Please be patient. Playing early may impact your account!"

NOTE: this Purchase was apparently for the $60 one and not the
more expensive one

  • To clarify, it was only bid up to that price. eBay pulled the auction before it ended, so nobody's actually paid that much for it.
  • Why would you pay that much when you can just wait and get it for normal price? And what's worse is that Call of Duty is one of the most generic game series of all time. How badly did this buyer want to play this game? lol

Gamers are impatient (just look at what happen here in this very forum on releasedate of a game episode or when Steam is (like usual) releasing games a few hours later than other online services.
Playing this game before anyone else means having the chance to be the first that reaches maximum rank/level. Showing off to your overly jealous friends. I still would say that it's not worth that price.

Ebaydidn't pull it before it ended. It actually ended. It was on eBay for an entire night and untill this morning. It's highly possible that it was paid.
  • Also it seems they upped the shock value for the game from MW2. This time children will die too. FUN!
Please activision just release the "A Serbian Film" DLC and give us the only thing that could be worse...

Hmmm. I'd like to see them try that on people who bought it in good faith from the shop that put them out early.
  • Penny Arcade did a good comic on this!
