So, the Same Sex Marriage bill passed through the final stage of voting today. It can no longer be stopped, and will probably be submitted to be signed into Law tomorrow (after a vote on ammendments is held). More importantly, the amendment added to the bill today commits the government to holding a review of pensions for Survivors. This was an issue that was very close to my heart, as after my father died we relied on his pension to get us through some very tough times. Still do, in fact. I'm just glad that I can (hopefully) provide for my future family after I have departed this life.

So yes, very happy tonight. The first time I've ever really been involved in politics. It has been an interesting experience, to say the least.

In my opinion, on August 10th, every banned person should have an Antonio Banderas avatar. You know, because that's his birthday. And because of lame pun.

Is anyone else bored of movies? I'm getting bored of movies. I'm tired of them. It's like....none of these blockbusters are Raiders of the Lost Ark quality anymore and the ones that are worth a look are reviled anyway. The artsy films have no interest for me. They all sound bland and boring and pointless. I can't get any interest going.

Pacific Rim is being hailed as oh...oh it's so badass and awesome and it's the movie we all deserve and we should all go to see it and it has substance and I just don't care at all. The Lone Ranger was good enough for me to enjoy it, but it's not a classic either. Man of Steel sucked. Upstream Color and something Midnight and that new Refn movie...why should I care. Why. I just don't. It just...doesn't....send me.

I could get myself to watch a laughably bad horror movie maybe....but even that loses my attention after a while.

It's not age, either. I'm not that sort who grows out of things. An American Tail is my favorite movie. I just...there's nothing...nothing is interesting today.

Ooh, you're right, Only God Forgives IS coming out soon! Exciting!

i think TV is where the quality is nowadays, i just think there is so much more you can do with a series than a 1.5-3.5 hour long film

What am I going to find on TV?

    Falling Skies?

    Duck Dynasty?

    God, Guns, and Automobiles?

Movies are moving in the "event" direction. Every movie wants, needs to be THE big thing to be successful. That means a lot of bad things. One of them is movie length. I am so very tired of two+ hour long movies. And that's practically every major production these last years. They're just stretching the experience for too long, and hardly any of those movies has enough material for two hours, let alone eight (hello Peter Jackson).

I haven't seen an American Tail in ages. But I do know where to place it, and that is in probably my favorite movie era. If you want to see some good movies, maybe search through the 80s. If you need suggestions... I'd have a few.

Every movie? No, I don't think so. 2012 had plenty of amazing films that weren't of the Hollywood Event type, and many were even made in America to boot!

I've never heard of them, and i don't know what your interests are but i was thinking more along the lines of breaking bad and Hannibal as good TV

Me too. He was way too kind to the giant steaming pile of shit damming off Diarrhea Rapids that was Man of Steel.

Didn't register. You might have to say it a few more times, then scream it.

There was only one part in the whole movie that bothered me.

“You’re a monster, Zod. And I’m going to stop you.”

Strangely, something very similar was said in The Dark Knight Rises. Aside from that, I fucking loved Man of Steel.

“You are weak, son of El. Unsure of yourself. The fact that you possess a sense of morality and we do not gives us an evolutionary advantage. And if history has proven anything...

...it is that evolution always wins.

Evolution is, of course, evil. Meanwhile, Superman's advantage on his adopted home planet comes from having adapted to earth's atmosphere. Superman is better adapted to his environment than Zod and his men, giving him a competitive advantage.

And it's Zod's men who tout evolutionary advantage...due to having no moral compass, when morality largely comes from behaviors that actually would be very helpful to a species at large in terms of evolution.
  • edited July 2013
Well, just add to that that Zod and all his peeps were pod people and therefore especially constructed to not be evolved and you've got a big old WTF.

Fuck you, Nintendo. Two years of slaving to get Platinum in Club Nintendo and I get the shittiest rewards ever compared to previous years. Then I can't do Platinum again this year, let alone Gold, and you fuck me over by offering the SOUNDTRACK OF MY FAVORITE ZELDA GAME.

Thanks for slapping me across the face.

    I'M SO FUCKING PISSED I CAN'T SEE!

I'm thinking the power supply on this computer is starting to flake out. It's taking several tries to turn back on after it's been powered down. The thing is, it's an older computer, floppy drive and no serial ATA and all, and I'm not sure modern power supplies have what this thing needs. I guess I'll have to open it and take inventory of what plugs it's using.

Anyway, I just backed up the hard drive, just in case.

So for the past month or so one of the television networks in my country has started to show bumpers to set the summer mood by showing people doing "extreme" stuff.

And then using The Lonely Island's YOLO as the background music.

I'm a complete manchild, but if I don't somehow find a way to get ahold of the Majora's Mask OST, I will start crying. I don't know why this is suddenly so important to me, but it is. I am on the verge of tears. I don't act like this ever about material things. Something else must be making me so on edge, and it's just coming out through this particular thing, but I feel terrible. I'm currently messaging everyone I can on Gaf who wants to trade it away, but nobody will get back to me.

Ace Attorney 5 has been rated M by the ESRB.

I wasn't expecting this, and it should be interesting to see what they can do with a bit more freedom.

Yay! Now I don't have to track down a copy of questionable origin, burn it to a disk, and borrow my parents' CD printer to make it look like the real thing!

It's incredible how much Nintendo hates the Mother franchise, because they STEALTH RELEASED EARTHBOUND!!!! THE EQUIVALENT OF AN UPPERCLASSMAN THROWING PENNIES AT THE POOR WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING THEIR WAY!!!

JUST WHEN I'VE CALMED DOWN, NINTENDO.

Yes, but Reggie didn't personally knock and Fawful's door and tell him it was coming. Inexcusable, Nintendo!

Every time this article about the PS4 controller comes up I still can't believe it is a thing that exists on the internet and was published by somebody who was paid to write it and then was allowed to publish it to a site that supposedly has higher editorial standards than average "game blogs".
It felt like the first time I touched a girl’s breast in the backseat of a car with fogged up windows

Ben K is either really creepily attached to the sensation of holding a Playstation 4 controller OR, my preferred theory, spent his adolescence dating a girl who had REALLY WEIRD BREASTS

Stop talking before someone necroes that thread. Yes, you know what thread I mean. The one where they talk about breasts which actually might have the form of a PS4 controller.
