My theory about the killer [possible spoilers]

edited December 2013 in The Wolf Among Us

Hi all I'm new here happy new year and all that =P

So I just finished TWAU episode 1 yesterday and I've read some interesting theories about who might be the killer. (the woodsman, bluebeard, prince lawrence, the redheaded guy)

However I think they are too obvious. What I DO believe is that Ichabod Crane is at the centre of it all.
I'm not saying he's the killer, far from it. But I do believe the killer is placing the heads of his victims in front of the building on purpose to torment Crane.

In the Episode 2 preview we also see Bigby holding Crane over the Witches Well (or whatever that pit is) asking him what he did. This also leads me to believe that the killer is someone from Crane's past ( The headless horseman perhaps ... ? Again probably too obvious but who knows...) or someone Crane wronged in some way.

Another important factor is the tarot cards on Crane's desk, especially the last card. I believe these cards pertain to Crane and not to Bigby like some people suggested on here. Which would also explain why Crane is so stressed at the moment (after all the last card predicts some sort of doom) and his irrational behaviour. (blaming Snow and Bigby)

So who do I think the killer is ? Well... I believe it's someone we haven't seen yet... It's too early to tell which is why I can't wait to play episode 2 =D

So what do you all think ? Am I onto something here or should I lay off the crack ? xD

update Oh yeah something I forgot to mention... I've been thinking about what the connection is between the victims (Snow and Faith besides the fact that they're both attractive women). When Bigby and Snow enter the Prince's house you can see Snow picking up another sealed envelope. But she doesn't mention anything to Bigby about it. Which is of course strange... Perhaps this envelope is what got her killed and perhaps also Faith ? The question is who is it from and what's inside ? If it was from Crane it would explain why Snow hid it and probably wanted to confront her boss about it herself. Argh the possibilities are maddening ! Telltale release episode 2 plz >_<

  • Its good for you that you finished the episode yesterday, because you won't have to wait that long as others ,for example I finished it almost 3 months ago and its killing me that Ep 2 isnt out yet.

There is a possibility with Crane having something to do with the murders. Of course he looks like bitch, He's angry all the time[angry in 1 scene which is all we got] and Bigby doesn't like him obviously or... Who would ever like him.

So I think ur right, It has to be someone who we haven't seen yet ...otherwise it would suck that one of these theories on forums would be right. That wouldn't be the surprise as if when they reveal the murderer u say " Wow I did not expect that"
Hoping its someone We don't know about.

Good thinking though. Also you should lay off the crack.

Wow that long huh ? I feel for ya =/

Exactly it would be very weak storytelling if we were able to tell who the killer is so early on. So I guess we're gonna be up for quite some surprises as the story develops hehe.

Haha I'll try to, no promises though =P

  • Excuse me for barging in. I just want to contribute to the mystery, too. I also think it's someone else. I have also thought of the possibility that Crane has something to do with all this. Maybe one of the less fortunate Fables of Fabletown is the killer? It sounds like everyone seems to have a grudge on the Fabletown government. And have you noticed what the two victims so far have in common?

    • Not only are they female but they were also princesses back at the Homelands.
    • Bigby was one of the last few to talk to them.
    • Their heads were placed at night.
    • Snow is the corpse (or head?) discoverer. (This one is not a commonality but we should probably keep this in mind...)

If the next victim is female again, then the killer may be some madman of some sort. And I wonder who discovered Snow White's head. Plus, Beauty's ordeal...... Could it have something to do with the murders?

And about those tarot cards.... Is the reading valid even without the whole deck? I wouldn't really put much attention on it because I didn't really get the tarot card. Does it have a use in Episode 1?

    P.S. Also a newbie here. Hello! :)

  • Guys its the ginger headed guy that bigby and snow see when they are walking down the hallway if you think about it he has the cane thingy on his tie and hes also the taxi driver and hes basicly everywhere bigby goes and all the chapters are named around it to be honest he is the boy who cried wolf and wants revenge on bigby

  • Yeah. That guy is suspicious. But shouldn't Bigby have noticed him by now. I mean, he is/was a wolf....

  • well if he did notice him everybody would no and i mean the chapters "cry wolf" and the other one about skin or wool or somthing thts just my prediction anyone can think what ever they want. plus maybe he kills anybody tht bigby shows afection for and he kills them to make bigby feel pain

  • You actually read a part of my mind... But what about the "These lips are sealed." thing?

  • Maybe as in Lips are sealed is cause of when he said there was a wolf and nobody belived him so he means it as in he want say it again idk but yeah i dont even have thiss game i just watch peps play it im a walking dead player but i still like the series

  • Now it really looks like the Boy Who Cried Wolf theory is making a lot of sense! But unless more corollaries are made in Episode 2, I still can't say he is the killer...

  • good point but if im right ill be a boss

  • I don't think you are off at all. If we are to take his personality as a basis, your points are highly relevant. He is a superstitious man, and so it is relevant that the tarot cards, and the message is important to him. The fact that it is a beheaded, well, head is also very important obviously given he is meant to be haunted by the Headless Horseman. So I don't think that the killer is the Headless Horseman, but someone who knows about it and knows that it terrifies him.
IN FACT - I may be wrong, but isn't his story one of the Fables we couldn't choose from in the Book of Fables in Episode 1?

If it is directed at Crane it could be the Horse Man it is his MO. Plus the whole the cabby did it is a little to "A Study in Scarlet".
