Telltale Autumn Sale

Why do so many people like Luke?

Explain this to me because I just don't get it. Why do so many people like and actually TRUST Luke? He is actually the most favorite of the cabin group which I find outrageous. What has he ever done for Clem!? Also what has he done to become so well-liked? Another thing, how are you going to treat Luke in episode 2? I'm going to be super mean to him.

Comments

  • Who else is there to like besides him and Pete? Rebecca?

  • The most favourite member? What about Juice Box? Or Alvin? I see no Luke appreciation thread.

As for why so many people like him... he's kind. He cares about Clementine, and tries to protect her when all but two of the group distrust her. Also he has a MACHETE

  • Apart from the obvious?

  • He's the only one to whom Clem has a real connection with, Pete being a bit on the deceased side and all. He's the most fleshed out character in the cabin, besides Clem, and the only one who knows Clementine's past at all. He seems very genuine for the moment. Time will tell.

Well actualy 3...Alvin kinda liked her. He gave her Juicy Juice after all!

And Sarah man....A pinky swear is forever!!!

Lets make it a round 4 then!

  • Like?

    Apart from the obvious?

  • I think more that people are trying fit the new group into a season one mold, and luke comes off the new guy to step in for lee. As for whether i like him or not, i think he may be the most reliable person in the group. Pete was the only other person with that "feel". Carlos is a hack, and the rest dont seem to have any useful skills to contribute unless walkers are now afraid of being talked down to.

Well, in my case. First impressions go a long way. Saved her life and after initial shock of finding the bite, he did argue for Clem. He did bring her food. And even if Clem was pissed at them he talked to her with understanding, invited her to stay with the cabin group too.

    ...

So... yeah, I like him and usually that sort of little things build a little trust.

    Where to begin?

    • Killed a walker that was about to kill her.

    • Believes her when she says it was a dog. Not at first, but he comes to believe it later at the cabin.

    • Takes an interest on who her family is and how she made it so far.

    • Chews out Rebecca and Nick at the cabin for being morons.

Any of that ring a tiny bell?

    Like?

  • He saved Clem's life and had a nice boding moment with her while she was eating. Luke and Pete are the only members of the Cabin group who are really "likeable" at this point simply for being good people. You're not telling me you prefer REBECCA, are you?

  • The guy seems genuine and likeable, in my opinion.

  • Kitties your first 'Luke tried to kill Clem' post was funny as hell. Attempt #10... well it's starting to get old.

  • OHHHH! He made that thread? Lol now this all makes sense

  • Well, Clementine's first interaction with him is saving her from a slow painful death of getting eaten alive and turned into a zombie. That is followed by him dropping her for a completely understandable reason. Then, he backs her up in front of the group and argues that Clem should get some medical attention. He then gives her something to eat (she is probably starving at this point), and offers to let her stay in the cabin to heal up at least for a little while.

So yeah, besides being one of the few cabin member's who gives a shit about Clementine's well being, he also is a character that Clementine can relate to. If you reveal that Clementine's parent's dies, he'll say that he lost his family too. They are the only two main characters that have no known living family, so it makes sense for them to interact more than each other. Unless he looses it, I've got no real reason to go against him.

I'm eager to hear his counter for that. Weird.

  • Unlike the rest of the Cabin Survivors, Luke has nothing to lose, the rest of the Cabin Survivors have family. He would be the most likely to trust due to his lack of family.

    • How do you know that it wasn't Pete's idea to save Clementine and Luke just went along with it?

    • He didn't even believe her until Carlos gave the okay. He even says "probably" if you plea with him.

    • Luke threw Clementine on the floor

    • Luke was fine with the group throwing Clementine in the shed after he was outvoted. He didn't even want to help her at all saying it's "too risky"

    • If Pete wasn't there, can you imagine what Luke would've did to Clementine after he saw the bite?

At that point he was beginning to side with her. Later if you spy on their house meeting, he says he believes her.

Dropped. Ground. And after finding the bite and with the previous victim in mind. I think that reaction is understandable.

Couldn't prove she was not bitten by walker. He wanted, what part of risky you don't understand? Forest full of walkers, night time, poor vision, looking for a dead dog. Hey, piece of cake!

If Pete wasn't there, can you imagine what Luke would've did to Clementine after he saw the bite?

Whats this? More speculation. Taken her to the cabin group? C'mon.

Yeah, because they had time to "decide" whether or not to save her while a walker was trying to tear her apart.

He also said "My gut is telling me that she is telling the truth". Surrounded by people who want to throw you out, you center out Luke? Would you prefer Rebecca who would have put a bullet in you rather than try to sympathize?

Luke threw Clem on the floor because she saw she was bit and he was shocked. I would have done the same if she had a zombie plague imprinted in her arm.

Luke couldn't do anything about that. He said he would if he could, but he was right, it was too risky; he may have been branded a traitor.

Luke would have done the same, but he was in a panic; Pete calmed him down and made sense of the situation. What, you think Luke would kill an 11 year old girl?

    • I'm just saying, before we cast Luke as the hero, we need to be aware that Pete was there too. Which is totally different than if Luke was by himself by his own free will.

    • After he believes her what does he do? Wait for it... Nothing.

    • The thing is he knows how long it takes for a bite victim to turn and knows it's not instantaneous. He didn't even apologize by saying "Sorry I overreacted" or something along those lines.

    • I meant he said it was "too risky" for him to get her medical supplies. If he did believe her then why didn't he go that extra step to save her. Saying he believed her at the house meeting brings up the question of why he didn't help her.

    • He didn't even want to bring her to the cabin saying "Nick ain't going to like this," he said that to try to convince Pete to not bring Clementine along. He didn't even want to carry her to the cabin and you're saying he would've just took her to the cabin group?

  • It's still to early for me to have an opinion about him. He is ok in my book as of right now. Let's see where it goes once ep 2 is released.

On a side note, i hope nobody gets the brilliant idea to make an appreciation thread about Luke again! Most people should know what i'm talking about.

Again. Speculation, colored by your bias about the man. If you're suggesting he would not help Clem, that would be a straw man.

    ...

After he believes her what does he do? Wait for it... Nothing.

Well, he was in the middle of meeting. And he still couldn't prove anything and would've have to go help Clem, against the rest of the group. They can't risk it from an off-change it could be a walker bite. With supplies running low. You did notice he was the first one there to open the shed doors after walker attacked?

After getting outvoted, like you said: He said it's too risky when Clem asked her to go find the dog. Even if it was in reference to the medical supplies, he couldn't prove it was not a walker bite.

    ...

The thing is he knows how long it takes for a bite victim to turn and knows it's not instantaneous. He didn't even apologize by saying "Sorry I overreacted" or something along those lines.

He does? Where does he say that? Time for people to turn varies, by the way. From what I gathered, the victim who attacked Nicks mom had to turn pretty fast. He wouldn't want to take the risk of Clem dying on his arms all of a sudden. She could barely stand, Luke had no idea of her true condition.

    ...

"Nick ain't going to like this," he said that to try to convince Pete to not bring Clementine along.

Didn't sound like that to me. To me it was just a reminder. Again, you colour the whole scene with your bias.

  • Luke is the product of living in a weak group under what appears to be constant harassment. We'll see but they are certainly a paranoid bunch aren't they? My guess is there is some justification to it and some evil is about to show itself soon.
