Discuss the unreleased and incredibly amazing sequel to Earthbound which, sadly, doesn't seem to be coming here anytime soon. Apparently, there's speculation that a 'food cart guy' is Ness. To that I have to say that Mother 3 takes place 200 years after Earthbound, and these pictures:

Oh, and here is a link to the English language patch. You're on your own for the ROM, though.

  • The Mother series is one you either love or hate, it's a wild spin on traditional RPGs of all kinds (and a huge mockery of much of our world) I for one loved EarthBound and even the 1 scene I saw in Motehr 1 before NESticle crashed... (never have gotten past that 1 scene either, sadly...)

I look forward to having time to play this, hopefully there's an emulator for WM6...
  • It has an interesting, almost surreal feel to it. Is it very popular n Japan?

    Yes.

Popular enough to have 3 1/2 games. (The 1/2 being the canceled version of Mother 3)

    What about Earthbound 64?

AFAIK it was never completed, I think that was the canceled Mother 3 that 16_bit_mario was talking about.

    Yes, it is.
  • I will have to find an emulator and rom for this sometime. It is a shame that this game was never translated into English. When a company forces your hand you do what you've got to. Big thanks to those who translated the game.
  • Mother did have a pretty much completely english translation (Which has quite the history, There is an actual cart of it somewhere...) But it wasn't released, Can't remember why.

It was actually finished and ready to go! But that was in 1991, after the SNES had been released. A ROM of the actual translated game is floating around on the internet somewhere; the only difference from the actual thing is that it has "Zero" added to the title screen. That was just to differentiate it from that and Mother 2/EarthBound.
