like I said, I dont buy the whole "irrational with grief" argument. I think he knew exactly what he was doing. He blamed the consequences of his actions on a child because its easier then blaming himself, just like he was willing to scapegoat that same child to hide his own crimes.

but he seemed pretty freaking rational when he was quietly escaping with Mike and Bonnie. That he seemed-at was-, rational when he was escaping with Mike and Bonnie doesn´t mean he was not blocking up any possibility that Clem was innocent.

  • What would I do if someone robbed me? Certainly not drag my "sick" sister into a potential gunfight with a bunch of strangers for one -_-

And guess who also didnt take responsibility for robbing someone? Arvo. He stole medicine from his own group and then blamed a little girl who was kind enough not to rob him back. Hes a coward and an asshole.

What would I do if some people tried to rob me? Make sure they're dead. It's the most practical thing to do. And don't you dare think you wouldn't want the same thing. When you're wronged, you want to make things even.

So what you are saying is that you agree that Kenny did the right thing trying to kill Arvo cuz he tried to rob us? I mean, Kenny just wanted to "make things even", right?

So OP thinks that the people who didnt bother reading the calm post will suddenly be struck by deep understanding and decide to read the post where he (she?) says their reasoning is idiotic just because they dont agree with his version of events?

Seriously, all my respect to WilderEVE for wanting to get the point across, but it kinda seems like a losing battle. From what I have seen, people dont hate Arvo cuz they dont understand why he did it or think he did it for no reason, they hate him cuz they think his reasons suck and cuz they think shooting a kid in revenge is dead wrong.

    Bokor posted: »

It's borne out of frustration after the calm, measured approach doesn't work. And evidently it hasn't changed - people who are set in their ways still refuse to even read, just as they refused to read or think when the OP was calmer.

  • We dont see him from Kennys perspective???? We see him from Clems. And from Clems perspective, it sure as hell looks like he stole supplies from his own group and then blamed it on her (after she was kind enough to not rob him). From Clems perspective, it sure as hell looks like Luke is dead because Arvo decided to be an asshole and lead his group to ambush us to cover up his own crime. From CLEMS perspective, it sure as hell looks like Arvo is willing to murder a little girl in revenge.

Maybe if he was such a "scared victim" he shouldn't have brought his "sick" sister and his group to try to ROB US AT GUNPOINT! Like, he specifically led them to us to cover up his own crime. How is he not that bad?

    torkahn808 posted: »

If anyone's interested you can see the Russian translations here.

Also, if anyone speaks Russian there's some Russian in the game that the video creator missed, a conversation between Mike and Arvo if you let the timer run out when you approach them, I'd like to know what they said, it goes like this:

Mike: Kenny must have the keys.

    Arvo: Just hot wire it.

    Mike: What?

    Arvo: (Speaking Russian)

Mike: I still can't speak Russian man.

  • Not debating their bad writing at all! I agree they should have done better, and at first I thought Arvo saying we stole from him was a mistake/bug because you dont even get the dialog choice to deny it if you didnt rob him.

But I'm just very confused about #TeamSarahs reasoning??

I frankly understand his situation and why he acted the way he did. But in the end, that doesn´t erase my anger towards him for shooting a child (Clementine, at that). So if I have the option in S3...it´s payback time.

  • I'm not calling people idiots here, it says ''idiotic reasoning''. And their reasoning itself is idiotic.

Regardless if it's your fault or not that the situation happened, if you believe a girl murders your sister--right in front of you, no less. It puts you in a situation where you have to beg and barter for your life, already humiliating as is, with the added humiliation of being abused mentally and physically along the way. Then the ADDED humiliation of being tied to a pole in the freezing cold--then your sister's killer has one opportunity to speak to you, which the player can ignore anyway, and all of the player's choices can be construed as mocking, considering she's the one that shot Natasha dead. Following further abuse and no more interactions between the appointed killer and you--who ogles you across the room while you are beaten and, once again, tied up--

People are going off as if they'd be 100% okay with that. Regardless of fault, there's 'taking responsibility for what you've done' and then there's 'cruel and unusual punishment for what you've done'.

Why did Bonnie and Mike gave him a gun at all, just because he was beaten by Kenny doesn't means hes suddenly a good guy and can be trusted. Also it was he and his group that caused their own to die, he ambushes you even if you didn't rob him. I so wanted to kill that little prick.

  • They didn't. He took it off the driver's seat. With his leg/ankle the way it is, I doubt he'd be driving so it was most likely Bonnie or Mike sitting there.

So getting elbowed in the face while trying to defend him is considered mocking now?

Look, I get why you are upset at how people react to him, but dude, he is a video game character. Not only are people gonna react to him differently then real people, but the motivations and thought process you gave him are not canon, they are just your interpretations of his mindset. Saying everyone else has "idiotic reasoning" just cuz you seem to think that the way you see him is the most logical is kind of a dick move.

You wrote up this sob story for Arvo but where you see "impulsive stupidity" all I see is calculated intent. He didnt just do it on impulse, he knew that if he stole the supplies and blamed it on Clem he could get away with it because of the language barrier. He brought his group there to rob us with the intent of covering up his own crime. You say "combination of fear and spite" but all I see is misplaced blame and the intent to murder. He knew to do CPR, so its only logical he knew how CPR actually works. He should have figured out his sister was a walker, or he should have at least suspected it, but its easier for him to focus on hating Clem and plotting revenge on her then it is to admit that it was his own selfish plan that got his sister killed. He shot Clem with the intent to kill cuz he doesnt want to take responsibility for his part and just blames a little girl instead.

Personally, even thought I see him as less of a victim then you do, I still think its wrong for Kenny to beat him cuz I'm sensitive like that and he cried. But that doesnt mean that I'm gonna get all bent out of shape because other people are ok with watching a fictional, virtual character get beaten up because they arent gonna dig deep and try to come up with fake motivations for a fake person that doesnt exist. I watched Carver get his face smashed in and knees blown out, and hell yeah I was 100% okay with that it cuz he slapped my Clem, but that doesnt mean that in RL I would feel the same way.

  • Just because I think something's idiotic doesn't mean I'm seething with emotion over it? I mean, I've called a lot of things idiotic. People are debating me so I'm debating back--that's literally it. The only thing I'm trying to accomplish is the 'two sides to every story' angle we've been taught as a conflict resolution tactic. Because, I find, when you don't understand something, you hate it a lot more--fictional or not, I've seen people get invested into way worse source material. But that doesn't mean understanding leads you to hate it a lot less--I understand why various dictators did what they've done but that doesn't make them any less of an insane menace--you just ''get into their head'' and can see 'oh, that's why'.

I'm an author, what can I say. It just sort of.. happens that I can apply things that don't seem like they're there... make up scenarios in my head based on the information I'm given, basically.
