should telltale remove killing the dog Sam on episode 1

I believe that the scene is not right and it promotes animal cruelty and I for one will not stand another scene like that in telltale's games. It bothered me that such a respectable company would condone this especially if kids play the game. It is one thing to kill a zombie and another to kill a pet dog. If the scene isn't removed I will not buy any more of their games if that's their idea of fun. Also I'm wondering if there is a law nationally they are breaking by having this in a game. I do know in my state that it's against the law to promote animal cruelty. I won't stand for this anymore in one of these games. So what's your take on this scenario guys?

    I have no words.

But I do have facts, Telltale has never changed anything in their games. Once it's released there is no going back.

Also it's not condoning animal cruelty, I don't know how that idea entered your head.

Stopped reading right there, if you seriously think Telltale put that in to promote animal cruelty you definitely perceived that scene wrong.

EDIT: I don't know why but I kept reading and I saw this " especially if kids play the game" THIS IS WHY THE GAME HAS A M RATING, KIDS AREN'T MEANT TO PLAY IT IN THE FIRST PLACE, LMAO

  • Nice troll-post.

Why aren't you pissed off that TWD encourages violence against dead bodies? It's part of the anti-skeleton conspiracy!

  • it promotes animal cruelty

    I stopped there.

  • Telltale has never changed anything in their games. Once it's released there is no going back.

PS3 version, Episode 5 of TWDG S2. Shooting Mike was an option, and they released it. But then they scrapped it from the episode for some unknown reason.

  • Ha, this is kinda funny. It's not really animal cruelty. It's to show the reality of the za. Sam was a dog, who lost his owners. Probably hungry, thirsty, and scared. He bites her because of all of these factors. Obviously, Clementine had to protect herself. It's not like they give you the option to kill him, as soon as you meet him. He bites, she protects herself, and it's just unfortunate the way he lands.

    if kids play the game

    It's rated M for a reason.

I will not buy any more of their games if that's their idea of fun

I'm sure they don't think it's fun having an 11 year old kill a dog. But I think it's part of the reality they've provided. There's danger around every corner.

    If the scene isn't removed

It won't be, so don't hold your breath.

As Green said, it was supposed to be scrapped before the release, so I'd consider it a bug. It's like all of the unused audio, removed before the release of the game because it either didn't fit, or they went in another direction. The removal of Mike's determinant death was probably near the release date and caused the bug in the PS3 version only.

Telltale has never changed anything in their games. Once it's released there is no going back. PS3 version, Episode 5 of T

  • I thought that was meant to be scrapped before release though, because it was only on the ps3 version and was really buggy when you tried it :p

Ok, let me point out all the things wrong with what you just said.

1: The scene does not promote animal cruelty. If Clementine killed the dog just for the sake of killing the dog, then I'd understand. But she didn't want to. She just didn't want him to suffer.

2: Kids DO play these games. But you're upset about the fact that they have the option to kill a dog but not about bashing in the brains of zombies?

3: Killing the dog was not meant to be fun. If it made you feel sad or uncomfortable, then Telltale's mission was accomplished. That's what they were going for.

4: Telltale can't remove the scene even if they wanted to. It's already been distributed digitally and in retail all over the world.

5: Telltale isn't breaking any national law by having this in their game. If they showed actual footage of an actual dog being tortured or killed, that would be different. But this is fictional. It's not promoting animal cruelty! The main lesson isn't to kill dogs for no good reason, it's just conveying one of the main themes of the Walking Dead: that danger could be around every corner.

6: If you're really going to get offended over this scene, I strongly advise you to get the hell off of these forums.

According to your logic, if killing a dog in a work of fiction is considered animal cruelty, then wouldn't stuff like Old Yeller be considered animal cruelty? No. Because Travis shot the dog because it was rabid. The same goes for this scene. Clementine didn't want to kill the dog, in fact she didn't even want to hurt the dog. It attacked her and she defended herself. She did nothing wrong. Telltale did nothing wrong either. Go ahead, take this to the authorities if you want. They'll tell you the same thing.

Wow. I think I burst a blood vessel just typing this.

  • Go cry to PETA.

  • No, It's part of the game and it shows how tough the world can be and

especially if kids play the game

    That's why it's rated M.....

  • I have already gone ahead and talked with a lawyer about this and they do agree that it's taking it too far the scene could have been stopped right after the dog gets knocked off but showing the suffering and the killing of the dog takes it too far. They have given me the choice whether I want to pursue the matter or just drop it but they have urged me that it shouldn't be allowed in this state according to our laws

no they won't and no they shouldn't

this especially if kids play the game

this game isn't for kids so they shouldn't cut out content so that it is suitable for kids i'm sure telltale will be shattered that you won't buy anymore of their games truly shattered and it isn't against the law ITS NOT REAL LIFE

  • First of all they aren't breaking a law, 1st amendment. Second of all, you can kill tons of people throughout the season yet you complain about a choice to put a dog out of its misery? The scene isn't suggesting it to be "fun" to kill a dog, matter of fact it was a hard choice for me.

  • This is idiotic. The scene depicts a dog being killed, which happens every single day. Secondly, the dog was in intense pain, and putting it out of it's misery would be a wise choice. As for kids playing the game, Telltale is not a company for kids. They cater to whatever audience they choose and the game got rated for mature gamers, so you should be blaming the parents for kids playing the game.

  • If they cut out content to make it suitable for kids, they'd probably have to delete the entire fucking game. lol

  • Isn't there the option to choose killing Sam or let him die in pain? Is it right that you will let die a pet painfully? Thats sadistic

  • Ok if you wanna know why I'm offended. 1 my mother is dead the other is my daughter saw the scene while I was playing the game and it's not for her to see. She is 3 years old and now she's constantly asking me why the dog died. I'm just having to laugh and say it wasn't real. But on the other hand I really did talk to a lawyer and he says that it is again the animal rights laws in my state. No one should promote animal abuse and/or abuse an animal. And the video from game falls under that law according to him.

  • 1: Okay, if your mother really is dead, then I apologize, but just for that one factor.

2: If your daughter is traumatized by the scene, it's because you let her watch you play a game as bleak The Walking Dead. That whole ordeal is your own fucking fault.

3: I'm still not seeing any evidence of this so-called lawyer that you speak of. Again, claiming that you did something is not reliable.
