Multiple spelling / grammar mistakes in Ep. 2 - come on, Telltale!

posted by McMasters on - last edited - Viewed by 1.2K users
There are a number of simple, simple grammar and spelling mistakes that really make me feel like this game is a rush job. I'm a huge fan, and the game itself is great, but why is it that small game companies always seem to skimp on the QA?

burry, (bury)
'tactition', (tactician)
multiple your / you're mistakes,
an it's / its flop,
and more than one missing period.

Whoever you have on the checking of the subtitles, I'll be honest - you probably pay them more than to just run spellcheck and say it's good. Some you can handwave away with 'that is how they say it', but the rest is sloppy.

I want to see you guys do well, and get more great licenses to reimagine. Little things like this will help, I'm sure.

Did I put less attention on subtitles in LotL? Did TTG's QA work this time? I didn't spot a single spelling mistake in this third episode, what about you?

Nope - not one. impressed :)
  • Well i spotted an error in the subtitles once. Can't remember exactly where, but it's there...
  • Well the professionals here have eyes too, I'd be impressed if they typed ths subtitles without them. They have a job to do and addressing that on a public forum could very well inspire them to do a better job. :D
  • Me laugh at this form!
    Your all crasy!

I personnaly gust turn of the subtytles and never reelly looked at them because its take's me out of the world when I must red.

Haha! I love TellTale... so.... much.... :'D I don't care about typos because you get me new Money Island every month.... :'D And for all those who really care, at least they don't speak like that. Right?

    I love Money Island.
  • At Telltale, time is the enemy. In the limited time span of a month, it is difficult to cut and polish a game and have it be perfect. The folks here work VERY hard, and it is always crunch-time around the office, regrettably this leads to mistakes that are not a byproduct of manpower nor oversight.
As a born proofreader, I feel your pain and personally have offered my help as an extra-hand-on-deck to work on the subtitles, so perhaps that will ease the load for next launch to create more cohesive reading.
  • ^^ it was much better this time around, thanks :)

Is there any chance of the ep 2 subtitles being tidied up for the DVD release when you guys have a bit more time?
  • I would appreciate it if on the download page it would show the version numbers of the games.
My Screaming Narwal is version 1.0.0.15; Siege is 1.0.0.18; Lair is 1.0.0.19 -- it's shown on the splash screen. I wonder if the current downloads are the same, or newer.
  • I was reading them so fast, I didn't notice... Shame on me... :(
