What do you think about...Jane?

  • Sorry, but it is in no way believable that Jane was doing this for the good of the group. This 'group' contains of Kenny (whom she wanted to be gone ), AJ (whose life depended on Kenny and Clem hearing him scream. Somewhere in a car. In a Blizzard. With walkers lurking around the place.) and Clementine (who would have been better off with Jane and/or Kenny alive. But no, Jane decides to keep her mouth shut about AJ being alive and it all being a trick. What for? For the group's safety? Yeah, right. And it's even more ridiculous when you support and defend Kenny in their conversations.) So there's two possibilities. Jane's either a horrible person or a horribly stupid wanna-be-hero who is more danger than Kenny ever was.

  • Ironically, I would have preferred Sarah and Nick's company over Jane.

Jane's actions alone caused the downfall of Clementine's group more than Sarah and Nick could ever hope to do. If anyone was the liability, it was Jane the so-called survivalist.

  • I think that Troy and Jane were both at their lowest points when they meet, or she arrived, or however they got to Howes. They weren't saints but they saw somethin in each other before Clem's group came. They defintely werent a match made in heaven, but misery needs company.
I like to think (in my fanfic world, not in telltales actuality) that Troy put on a show for Carver but Jane was gettin to him. I dont wanna say much cause I'll ruin my own fan fic lmao

I'm curious; what do you think was the nature of Troy's and Jane's relationship? I try to write fics myself, and imagining exactly what went on between Jane and Troy for said fics has always been a bit tricky I feel.

  • Jane derped at the end of Episode 5.

    She dun goofed

Jane derped at the end of Episode 5. I slightly hate her, but she is someone with survival tactics, so I'll pick her as my companion.

Why even ask this question now, when there's literally been nothing but Jane bashing on these forums for the past year?

  • The reason I hated Jane from the start was because she shot Troy in the dick.

This was huge for me as well. I liked Troy's character. He had some amusing lines.

  • It is easy to hate the one, you haven´t choosed, you see what happened from the survivors perspective (and depending from your decisions before belonging to them).
But IMO they both wanted to take care about clementine, both not straight the right way, Jane wanted to show how dangerous Kenny can be and to protect clem and make her to follows her, but instead of talking she forced clementine (wanted or not) to decide about his and her life.
Kenny on the other side is a good man but changed, nearly broke by what happened to him and become more and more instabile and violent, but his (hidden) character isn´t like this, nevertheless he has moments he can´t control himself.

Both of them wants the best for clementine but (maybe) messed it up. Whom we trust and how we evaluate what is worse is our decision - and very difficult.

  • But seen bashing on one of them is...understandable but me it hurt seeing people express really hatefull opinions - their opinions are their own, but please, we all have the opportunity to think and discuss about them right here to understand them.

    • Kenny and Jane, every guy in TWD isn´t quite normal, even Rick would be scared if he would see himself of the 4th season when he came out of the hospital in S1.

  • Probably one of my favorite characters in season 2. Such a shame she was placed in to feud with Kenny.

Kenny was getting on my nerves. It was mainly all about Kenny, so it really didn't bother me when I had to kill him to save Jane.

"Clementine, what do we do about Kenny?"

"Clementine, you have to talk to Kenny!"

At this point, I really don't care that he lost his family. Everyone had lost someone in their family, Kenny just happened to cry about it the most. Even though it's going to be a bummer to see Jane die in season 3 (Because determinant characters don't last that long) I am just glad we had the option to kill Kenny.

  • I'd be more bold and simply say Kenny, just Kenny alone, destroyed everything in season 2. Jane was the only one ALIVE (Luke :( )and brave enough to stick around for Clementine.

I do agree that Kenny shouldn't have been in season 2. Even if I love him, Kenny and Jane destroyed everything.

Cause we were forced to like Kenny in season 2, so it's easy for people to build hate for Jane as a result.

I don't like her because of how the story was written, not really what her character was. She could've been better way better, but she came off as manipulative, selfish, and unpredictable. And her story was made so similar to Molly's that people (I actually didn't notice this to until I came to this forum) never gave her a chance

  • I have a Feeling that Expressing my Love for Jane and overall Respect I had for her and care I had for her will Get me Crucified faster than Being a Skyward Sword fan in a Sea of Ocarina of Time fans. So I'll put it like this,

    "Versatility, is not overrated."

Ep4 Jane was a great character with a really good potential. Until the super forced Kenny vs Jane thing happened. It turned such a good character into a complete jerk.

EDIT: Just pointing out that I do not stand by this opinion. Not anymore anyways. After a deeper analisys of the series and several replays, I realised that Jane is a pretty well made and consistent character that I happen to relate a lot with. She is now my favourite character of all the TWD media!

  • Why did HE have to come back? The minute he came back it was all about him. All the cabin survivors were put to the side, and ruined all the great potential they could've had. I agree with you, he was getting on my nerves. He never listened to anyone and argued with almost anyone who disagrees with him (Jane, Luke, Rebecca, Nick, Carlos, and Mike).

  • She's a survivor. More likely to live than anyone else. Well, before she got attached to Clem then she can die. :/ I was really pissed at her for her "plan" but she was kinda right about Kenny going bonkers. I'm not saying baby stealing is good, I'm just saying Kenny = cray. Anyone who isn't Clem or AJ is in danger, and people who play TWD tend to forget that point, and just care about Clem, or themselves by extension.

  • As someone who legitimately hates Jane, I wouldn't blame her for Clementine putting down Nick. Yes, she points it out and suggests it, but I'm pretty sure it was established that putting down a turningg/turned friend was considered a good favor at that point.

Ditto the rest of it, though. I even did a topic that used her as the example.

  • edited July 2016

    I always hated her.

At first, it was because she was a fuckin' Molly spinoff, but after that...as soon as she tried to convince me to leave Sarah behind, I knew exactly what kind of person she was.

  • Well, might as well host my opinion, despite this being from a year ago.

I like Jane. Although I won't be seeing her in my Season 3, I would like to hear about people saying how Jane's view of people has changed, just from having Clementine around.

Assuming she isn't killed off in a flashback.
(I really hope Kenny/Jane live through a majority of the season.)

  • I like Jane, her ideology though... It's really sad how she thinks that the people whom you care about are all burdens when it's exactly the opposite, if The Walking Dead teaches something, is that people have to work together in order to accomplish relevant goals. Having people around helps you survive as much as it helps keeping your soul alive.

  • Jane is on my black list.

  • I like her character a lot. Honestly I think she's one of the only characters in the game who have a chance at helping Clementine survive. Everyone else is as dumb as a bag of hammers.

  • She is good to Clementine but she care about herself always. In the the end she proved that she is stupid. she in my least favorite list

  • Are you making Lee a bag of hammers?

  • I said "one of" in the first sentence. It means I was talking about Jane and a few others. Ex: talking about Jane, lee. Then in the other sentence I said "everyone else". Meaning everyone else except for the few I indirectly stated (lee) in the first sentence.

(there are other characters who are not dumb either but its gonna take forever to name them all right now so I'll stop at Lee.)

  • Yeah and when you tell Jane to save Sarah, she'll respond with "Are you crazy, there's no way she's getting out of that, it's suicide, pull me up", you actually have to ask her twice for her to do it. If you stay silent, yeah she'll go down to try and save her but still, the whole attitude of it before hand and not really wanting to even try to save her is what i had a problem with, even if it was dangerous. Clem can also determinantly tell her "you didn't want to save her, don't pretend you're sorry". Anyway, i can forgive that but it's still something i'd mark down as a negative for her.

Actually when you are prompted to grab her hand or tell her to save Sarah, if you choose the silent option she actually goes down to help Sarah.

At least she does it. If I was in her situation I wouldn't want to do it either tbh. I understand that the whole Sarah situation was very sad and unfair, but Jane did not have to save her, she does multiple times. Her attitude simply doesn't matter.
