Can TTWD be great again?

Is there any possibility of season four and onward being at least comparable to season two or even season one? How could they achieve this?

  • Yes. Capcom saved resident evil.

  • In my opinion it's already better than season 2 and it IS great again.

  • With 2 hour episodes, sure.

  • Of course, telltale can pull it off

  • Bring back the original writers....these will only save clementines story

  • I'm leaning towards no.

  • If they actually stop working on lots of projects at the same time, take their ACTUAL sweet time to focus on the story, give us more moments to let us interact with specific areas and make the episodes to last longer, then sure.

I don't doubt Telltale completely, but I've lowered my hopes on the 4th season of The Walking Dead, just in case.

  • I agree. They're overworking themselves constantly. What they should do is work a schedule, maybe release 1-2 games a year. Have one game be released in the fall/winter and the other released in the summer.

  • I'd be fine if they released one project they've been working on at a time, even if that means only getting one game from Telltale each year.

Me too. If they only work on one project that means they have more time to develop the story, characters, and not worrying about rewrites last minute.

Better than getting more Telltale games but crappier stories and characters.

  • No

  • Can TTWD be great again?

Yes but only if they build a wall around TWDG: A New Frontier".

  • No I doubt it. If they continue giving us bare bones content with a terrible engine, then I don't think there is any way of redemption. The writing could get better, but from what I've experienced through this game and some other TT games I just don't know.

  • What do you call bare bones content ?

The walking animation of characters was more natural in anf than the others season ;)

Its fifty-fifty situation but if Telltale pay more attention to scenario, at least doesnt change it completely and write the whole story again just like they did for this season, they can earn back their respect which they had in the back of day. Season 1 earned so many trophies and this was actually one of the best story rich games ever. All they have to do, just dont try anything specific for making the characters more cooler(make them LGBT, pull some nonsenses which they could not be capable of doing that in theory) and pay attention more to determinant situations( I am really sick of the situation when determinant characters die after one episode). This is possible but Telltale has to be careful and be more patient to do that. Otherwise, they will begin to lose fans.

  • Yes. Resident Evil 7 is awesome.

  • ONE writer per episode, just like S1 had.
Try to bring back the original writers, PLEASE. Or, put some of the writers of S2(Pick the ones who had the best episodes) and make them write the season, they already know what to do and what not to do + have experience with TWDG instead of putting a bunch of new writers on one of your most IMPORTANT and flagship game like a bunch of idiots.
    Make the episodes longer.

ANF was one of the worst moves ever from Telltale, what other company makes another season and makes a new main character and puts a bunch of inexperienced, unproven writers on the job? Seriously, Telltale.. you're a fucking award winning company. Stop acting like you're a small time company.

  • Sure they can make it great again. Here is a Bullet List....cause like a montage in films..forums need Bullet Lists.

    • The story should be well thought out before you even begin the process of putting the game together...
    • Episode length...if you find yourselves cutting "slow moments" like scenes were your characters actually get to know each other...guess what? You have failed. If your players have no vested interest in your characters or are fuzzy on just what it is they do..then you probably should not do 70 minute episodes. Honestly 2 hours should be the length on average.
    • Clementine is your TWD Rick....You should probably treat her character better than to being a bit player in the season. Especially when your marketing basically whored her out to get the feel train a going.
    • Perhaps having a compelling villain would have helped ANF. S1 had the Stranger and the St. Johns....S2 had Kenny and Carver...and Kenny was not even a villain..just an emotionally shattered man with anger issues...but it worked for the most part.
    • Do not kill loved characters like you were just taking out trash. Kenny deserved better...not the way he died because I liked it...but the length of time spent on he and Jane's deaths was a complete slap in the face of the fans. Just like Omid and then Christa.
    • Clementine should not be an edgelord. Killing Eli was understandable...but how many times did she draw a gun or even want to kill people? This is so far removed from the Clem we know. Really if you guys just want to call a mulligan on ANF..we would never speak of it again.
  • I think they could. It would help if they just started over from the beginning though.

  • you liked Kenny getting paralysed and eaten alive? ok then o_0

  • Well yes....because it is a tragic death....not everyone goes out like a one man slaughterhouse like Lee did. And remember...Kenny distracted the walkers so Clementine and AJ could escape. I just think there should have been much more to the flashback. One more mini adventure with Kenny or Jane before they slip off to their good night.

You know, to be honest... being paralyzed in a car crash? In the zombie apocalypse? It's most certainly a unique way to go out. It's not something you'd expect to happen in that world, right? If given to the right character, I think it could definitely be considered a memorable, if not impactful death.

Which leads me to the point-- the problem isn't really that he died in such a way... the problem is that it was the character of Kenny who got that death, and the fact that it happened in a 5 minute flashback with very little emotional gravitas.

That kind of death isn't necessarily a bad send-off in and of itself... but it sure as hell wasn't the send-off that a character who has been integral to the series since the very beginning deserved to get. And it's even worse when you take it happening in a 5 minute flashback into consideration.

  • Hmm...if they listen to the feedback then maybe...lately it looks like the staff is interested in our opinions but that could just be my mind trying to cope with it.

  • The Garcia's ARE Latino, after all...

  • Yeah like I said...Kenny and Jane and even Edith deserved a longer send off...but I will say Kenny especially. No matter how I found him lacking in S2...he was a great character s1!

  • A massive, fat and enormous no.

  • If they would listen to fan feedback then yes. They don't need to give into everything we want, they should have their own freedom because this is their game. But holy shit Telltale everytime they ask for feedback they forget to actually listen.

  • Yes you can. As long as Telltale realizes he's producing a game and not a movie at Michael Bay.

Yes it can if our voices can be heard. Telltale knows many fans were disappointed this season and they sure as hell won't wanna disappoint us again. Even big youtubers like Pewdiepie, Jacksepticeye, and Uberhaxornova voiced their disappointment with the season.

What Telltale needs to do is read fan feedback and reviews and fixed what they did wrong. Of course, not everything will be fixed, but hopefully most of them will.

If S4 does happen it needs to have less action and more drama between characters (like Kenny v Lily or Kenny being pissed at Clem in S2), no more forced romances or any romance at all, no more terrible treatment of determinant characters, longer episodes, more hubs, playable Clem, and no cringy writing.

  • Yep, we just have to put this man in charge.

  • ◦Episode length...if you find yourselves cutting "slow moments" like scenes were your characters actually get to know each other...guess what? You have failed.

I think PewDiePie had favoured the action when he was playing Ep5, rather than the conversations from the characters (I think he said it was boring). Bit bizarre considering how he liked S1 so much.

Sure they can make it great again. Here is a Bullet List....cause like a montage in films..forums need Bullet Lists. * The s

  • Probably not. The hand that made S1 and most of S2 so magical, Sean Vannaman is gone. Many have left Telltale. I remember going crazy waiting for the eps in s2 to be released. It was special to me. S3 was so meh. I could complain about it, but everyone has glossed over how bad it was. I knew when they botched the Kenny and Jane story lines, it was over.

  • as several people have said before they have different teams so this is not an actual problem <_<.

  • Yes but I have noticed the Pewds is having issues with games in general lately...though considering the shit he has gone through lately I give him a pass on that. I love action but you need the quiet time..in Ep 5 I think it was just an overall pacing issue. I thought it worked...but in context of the rest of the season it could come off as slow.

◦Episode length...if you find yourselves cutting "slow moments" like scenes were your characters actually get to know each other..

  • It wouldn't be difficult. These are more interactive movies than games.

    • Fix the pacing issues. No jarring time skips. Focus on character moments more than action moments. Treat environments with the tension they deserve.
    • Have more than one character survive and be in the next Season. Take a page from the tv series and comic source.
    • Small cosmetic choices can make people more attached to characters. Let people chose which hair model they want for someone or going through a house /store find a choice of hats or jackets we can gift to another character. They could even drop easter eggs of their other titles there.
    • If we have to be in a community let us explore it. It's the only way people will care if it stands or falls.
  • Agreed. Though I still would've preferred he die of natural causes while Jane got a scene to the effect of his, personally.
