Anyone on here a fan of "The Walking Dead: Michonne" game?

This weekend I finished my first play through of the "Michonne" mini series and I fell in love with it. Samira Wiley was a great Michonne, I hope they do future DLCs like this. I think I liked almost every character. Everyone was likeable, the only thing I hated seeing were those damn hallucinations of Michonne's daughters I mean it was fine in the first episode but that extended hallucination during the house fire in Episode 3 was just to dragged on and felt like filler.
I was begging for it to be over. Also Zachary didn't deserve to die like that, he saved Michonne from Norma attacking her in the battle. Zachary and Jonas should had joined Michonne and Pete's group.

Questions for those who played Michonne:

  1. Did you let Sam kill Zachary? Did you beg Sam for his life?
  2. Did you kill Randall or use him to negotiate with Norma to get your crew back
  3. What choices do you regret?
  4. Who were your favorite characters?
  5. Do you think this should have been a fictional world instead of being set in the comic book series?
  6. Who was the antagonist? Norma or Randall? Was Norma a good person who was only wronged?

Comments

  • I never played it(thus, I'll avoid the questions) and initially just stayed away from it.
I will say that once my curiosity and base barrier were aligned for me to watch it, I did enjoyed it well enough.

As for the general consensus, it was generally split between those who really enjoyed and those who looked down on everything to do with it solely because it didn't involve Clementine.

  • Did you let Sam kill Zachary? Did you beg Sam for his life?

Told Sam to spare his life.

Did you kill Randall or use him to negotiate with Norma to get your crew back

    Spared him for negotiations.

    What choices do you regret?

None really. Saved Oak and Sam, didn't feel like killing Randall anyways. There weren't a whole lot of choices to regret looking back.

    Who were your favorite characters?

    Paige. Only Paige.

Do you think this should have been a fictional world instead of being set in the comic book series?

    Sure that'd be fine

Who was the antagonist? Norma or Randall? Was Norma a good person who was only wronged?

Both of them were antagonists. Norma failed in that she neglected to reign in Randall's psychopathic nature. She would've been a decent leader had she not allowed a rabid dog to lead her scout teams. That and she could unwittingly escalate tensions a lot of the time just through exasperation, though that's more understandable.

  • I liked it well enough but I wish it had been longer.

    1. I let Sam kill Zachary. He may have regretted it but he pretty deliberately pulled the trigger.
    2. Killed Randall because he was a monster.
    3. I regret not signaling Paige to shoot Norma and getting Oak killed.
    4. Randall, he was hilarious and evil and very fun to hate.
    5. Yes. Should have been the Garcia's origin story.
    6. Randall was the main antagonist, Norma wasn't "good" but she definitely wasn't as deranged and unreasonable as her brother.
  • Nope I didn't like that game(the only TT twd game I didn't play)

YES ! I really liked it and everytime someone says that ANF was better than Michonne i just roll my eyes lmao, yeah it's pretty short but i thought they did a pretty good job.

1 ) I told Sam to let him live

    2) I used Randall for the negotiations and also because he's a really fun character so i really tried to keep him alive as long as i could, too bad he dies no matter what.

    3 ) no

4 ) Randall because he was funny, and charismatic,a great villain,Sam,Pete, also Paige and Oak i guess.

6 ) They were both antagonists but Randall was the worst,Norma wasn't a really good person but she could be reasonable sometimes.

I think it was great, the only things i hated in that mini-series were Randall dying no matter what even if you give him back to Norma, and the final choice making Sam determinant for absolutely no reasons lol.

Also the songs at the end of episode 1 and 3 were cool,no seriously i still think that mini-series was great and gets way too much hate, they tried to do something else, something different and it worked imo.

  • What did you think of Sam and Greg's brothers? I really liked that scene with Michonne and the youngest one.

  • It was okay, pretty meh overall. Still miles better than ANF, but that's not saying much. But I think it's one of the most forgettable Telltale games.
    (along with Guardians)

    As for your questions:
    1. I let Zachary live
    2. Spared Randall, but I really hated how it was resolved in the final episode. Him trying to strangle Michonne with his broken-ass fingers and we were forced to kill him just to create conflict. Probably one of the dumbest resolution I've seen in a Telltale game. It's pretty clear they wanted us to kill him. In fact, I believe the mini series plays better if you kill everyone. (except for Sam at the end, that was a dumb choice too)
    3. Letting Pete go I guess. It only results in less deaths of random red shirts and I missed some determinant conversations. Oh well.
    4. Norma was a great antagonist and Randall was hilarious. That's about it.
    5. I don't really care that much about that, but I wish there were no comic book characters with plot armor (aside from Michonne ofc)
    6. Both I guess. Norma was pretty reasonable. As I said above, I disliked you had to fight her no matter what.

  • Off topic but do you think they wanted us to kill Alvin, Nick and Sarah before their second deaths? Nick's death is off screen turned to Walker, Alvin's 2nd death is lame and off screen, Sarah's 2nd death is meaningless

  • Nah, not initially at least. They just didn't know what to do with them. I think it's due to the constant switching of the writers between each episode.

Btw, I think Alvin's second death was actually decent and better than the first one.

  • I think Alvin had to die cause he was the thing that prevented clem from taking care of aj , Sarah’s deaths I liked as well because they were constantly saying you can’t save everyone and that even though you saved her today doesn’t mean you saved her as Jane said but nicks second death I didn’t even like at all it had no meaning and in my option I though he was going to be a bigger character as episode 1 and 2 focus a lot on him.

  • To answer the questuon in the title:
    No.

  • I didn't see an issue with Nick's second death, sometimes people die when you're not around to witness it, it's actually realistic for Clem to find someone she knows turned without having to witness them be bitten all the time

I think Alvin had to die cause he was the thing that prevented clem from taking care of aj , Sarah’s deaths I liked as well becaus

  • My predictions on determinant characters you Can save and that don’t die and just dissappear and how I feel weather they’re still alive and they’re return probabilities

    • Chet (I’m not gonna lie I don’t think he’s ever coming back and in my option I think he died sometime between a new day and starved for help as he seemed to have been a weak survivor and considering he can die by lee and clem not appearing just a few hours after you’ve “saved” him I doubt he wouldn’t have survived longer than a few days or weeks)
    • Danny St John (never gonna come back ,I reckon he died from either the blood loss or walkers unless the trap wasn’t chained and he just crawled in the room where the blood is and locked himself in until the walkers passed and somehow managed to force it off)
    • Andy St John (Never coming back, reckon he could have survived if you didn’t tell him his family is dead as he is still cocky but if you tell him his family’s dead I reckon he would’ve just allowed the walkers to eat him likely his undead mother)
    • Drew/Gary (never coming back , I reckon whoever survived and signaled could’ve died or survived but i reckon if you fail to shoot his ass he survives and he and the other surviving bandits either ran away or took over the motor inn otherwise if you shot his ass I reckon he wouldn’t have been able to run away from the conflict quick enough and was eaten.)
    • Justin (never coming back , I don’t know what to say bout him I’m surprised they didn’t say he died same as Danny but considering he left Vince to find his own community I don’t know what could’ve happened to him as I haven’t seen how capable as a survivor he was m so I’m gonna say he’s a definite unknown)
    • Leland (not returning , I reckon he survived during the end when Tavia finds the main characters 400 days in after he left Bonnie but im not sure how far he could’ve survived as he was capable as a survivor but was quick to depression and actually was willing to die alongside his dead wife if not convinced so I’m not sure.)
*roberto (not coming back , I reckon he died during the raid which ended in Boyd’s death)
    • Boyd (not coming back , I reckon he died between shoes story and when clem discovers Roman dead without Boyd and his group around.)
    • Hank (never coming back , hank would’ve died during the attack on Howes as you see walkers on the roof with Travis and the others so to me Tavia , hank and everyone on the roof of Howes are dead )
*Bonnie (could return , I could see her returning as mike , arvo and her are one of the few characters who are prominent characters who were last seen in a good place as they had two bags of supplies and the 3 were capable so I reckon they defiantly could’ve survived to the events of the final season though I don’t feel they will return as them returning wouldn’t make sense unless they’re apart of the rival group at war with the delta)
    • Jane (never coming back , I feel that she hangs herself no matter what even if you leave her)
*Kenny (could or could not , in my opion if you leave him he survives as his in anf his death only happened because of clems inability to properly drive so without her there no crash and in my opion Kenny could handle himself and survive for years on his own but i think how you leave him affects his mentality if you abandon him at the rest stop I reckon he’s gone a lot more crazier and become like Morgan was with the clear state and Kenny’s probably in the same state while if you left him at Wellington I reckon he will be better as he succeeded in protecting clem and aj , and in his mind they’re still safe behind big walls so he’s probably a lot less insane , but I don’t think he’ll return again though in the present but I can see a flashback with him though , but still I reckon Kenny’s still alive offscreen during the final season either crazier and more unstable likely killing everyone walker he sees and maybe people too (alone ending) or maybe with a new group or maybe even a new surrogate family (Wellington ending).)
*Edith ( never coming back , I do think she would have survived the raid on Wellington though as the only reason she didn’t escape earlier was because of clem and aj so I reckon she could’ve escaped but I’m not sure how long she would have made it out in the wild alone though.)
*Conrad (never coming back, I reckon they explain his and Javier’s fate in broken toys)
*Max (not coming back , reckon he could still be alive with Lonnie out in the wilderness but i doubt he’ll return though)
*Lonnie (not coming back , same as max could still be alive but not returning)
*Lingard (not coming back , I think his fate will be explained in broken toys)
*Clint (never coming back , I’m not sure how he lasted as I reckon he escaped Richmond but I’m not sure how capable he is against walkers so I don’t know
*Joan (never coming back, I’m kind of surprised that a main antagonist can actually escape justice as if you take the deal she gets away I highly doubt she was killed by the herd I reckon she escaped and somehow managed to survive but I’m not sure if she’s still alive though during the final season I hope not but I don’t well get a confirmation so I’m gonna see you can say she survived somehow or she was weak without people doing her dirty work for her and was eaten by walkers.
Gabe (not returning , fate revealed in broken toys)
David (not returning , fate revealed in broken toys (if came back) , if he left Richmond and kept walking I reckon he survived an his still alive during the final season as he’s a really capable survivor and can survive
Kate (not returning, fate revealed in broken toys (if in Richmond) I’m not sure why they did her missing if they’re just gonna abort that arc so I’m gonna assume she died and turned anyways)
    1. No. I didn't kill Zachary. No point.
    2. Killed Randall.
    3. Kind of killing Randall? it wasn't the smartest move in order to keep everyone safe.
    4. Norma and Randall. They were all pretty well written though.
    5. Uh, sure?
    6. Both of them were antagonists. They opposed Michonne, the protagonist.
Randall was sociopathic and therefore very dangerous. Killing John solely because of his association with us was definitely wrong and is why I ended up killing him.
Norma was not a good person, but I wouldn't call her a bad one either. I don't think she ever intended to do anything to us but finding out if we were dangerous or not, and then sending us our merry way. She did let Sam go once and was only really holding us because she thought we were with her, stealing again. Anyways this is until Zachary killed Sam's brother, we destroyed the community in return, Randall killed the father in return, yadda yadda. Norma wasn't responsible for this conflict, Sam arguably was with Zachary being the first direct offender. She did try to make the best of it however, and that's commendable.
  • Hey, I'm a fan, I rank the Michonne DLC just below Season 1 but above 400 Days and Season 2. The characters were good, had their own personalities.

The hallucinations, I had no qualm with. Being haunted by the unknown fate of loved ones or guilt not being able to do what you can when you had the chance. Traumatic.

    Now the questions:

Did you let Sam kill Zachary? Did you beg Sam for his life?
No, I did not. I believed letting her kill Zach would have accomplished jack and spit. And I wouldn't say begged. More like pleaded.

Did you kill Randall or use him to negotiate with Norma to get your crew back
Despite that Randall was a complete asshole, I kept him alive, but when the choices came, I made damn sure he'd never play the piano again. And with the capture of the Companion crew, I would keep him to save them in some way shape or form.

    What choices do you regret?

I don't know. I stuck with my guns. And did what I thought was right.

    Who were your favorite characters?
Michonne was awesome, Pete was a nice guy, a little too nice. Siddiq whom I learned is also a comic character, I liked. Despite the pessimism from Oak, I bore him no ill will, at times, I feel the same way about people. And Berto, in the short time I saw him, he was good.

I also feel like I've got a crush on Sam. Beautiful, tough and takes no crap from anyone. And loves her family. If they ever get the series back on track, who knows, maybe Ms. Fairbanks will take center stage in her own adventures.

Plus, I thought Sam and Michonne made a great team in Episode 2 (my fav)

Paige, I like her as well, funny smart and a good person to have watch your back.

James and Alex, Sam's little brothers...poor souls. Losing their older brother Greg and their father. I hope Sam and Paige will help them in the years to come. I like them, but I fear what will happen if it becomes too much for them.

Do you think this should have been a fictional world instead of being set in the comic book series?
No, I think it would have fit in perfectly.

Who was the antagonist? Norma or Randall? Was Norma a good person who was only wronged?

I believe the both share a bulk of the blame. And regarding Norma, I can't say for certain. Part of me feels it was just a mask, to act civil. Norma was civil, but dangerous.

    But I feel,

  • Michonne was ok. It wasn't terrible. It had loads of potential that it never really lived up to. However, I believe a Michonne mini-series or series of short season would have been a cool concept had it happened after Clem's story ended.

Michonne's main flaw was that it was forgettable. That forgetfulness is attributed to it randomly being thrown into the middle of the Clementine story arc. Had TTG not messed around and just went with their rumored initial plan of having the Garcia's as the mini-series game leading into A New Frontier, and let's assume they ended Clem's story at the end of a fourth season, they and the TWDG franchise itself would have been in a better position to do a Michonne story. It could have been a few installments of short, self-contained, 3-episode long seasons depicting why Michonne left Rick and the gang, found her peace, and realization that she needs her apocalyptic family as much as they need her. This way, the mini-series feels like a legitimate story. Unfortunately, we received a mini-series that randomly showed up in between two seasons of a story arc it has no connection to in what seemed like a cash grab to hold us over to S3/ANF.

Essentially, Michonne was the "free bread" to the TWD "entrée"; it's good but not filling and not the reason why you are there.

  • I hate to be like this(he lied), but there goes that TWDG fan sense of entitlement.
