  • Will this effect on other stuff on youtube as well? Like say music, cartoons, including films that are in the public domain as well as not being on DVD?

Stuff that just isn't on DVD will probably be taken down, but I would be surprised if they took down public domain.

Also, will this apply to reviews, commentaries and remixes?

Whilst the law will apply to games, I VERY much doubt that it would be enforced in those circumstances. After all, it's free publicity for the gaming companies. The main allure of a game is playing, not watching.
    Doesn't matter.

It is for the most part about fighting games, but I thought this was a good read about this bill (note that the article is written by an actual lawyer)

It doesn't affect me directly because I'm not even in the same country, but I still don't like it.
  • I won't be able to watch MST3K Best of... videos on youtube?! Aaaaugh!!
  • The more I think about it the more stupid and impractical this bill sounds also on a side note why does this remind me of the Internet Kill Switch Bill?
  • Stuff like this almost never get passed, yet they're always over sensationalized.
  • All I gotta say is that if this bill gets passed, the prisons will be full of starving college students.

That article links to this petition-ish-thing, which seems like a good idea. It's not so much a petition as a send-message-to-lawmakers thing, which can only help.

Also, it might not affect people outside the US in terms of being able to upload stuff, but in the unlikely scenario that the law "works" as it is written, it could scare off a lot of uploaders, which means people all over the world who like watching videos will suddenly have a lot less stuff to watch...

Now that's looking at the bright side of things! Doesn't seem all that bad now...
