Telltale Autumn Sale

Season 2's character...

edited October 2012 in The Walking Dead
I know this season is not over and should maybe not jump the gun, but do you think we will play as someone from the current group or another random guy with all new characters? If you could skip ahead a few years ( I know they said they couldn't because they dont know where the walking dead universe would be then.) but if they found a way to. I think you should play as an older Clementine.

I know im obviously not the first to suggest it, but I think it would make the most sense. I feel like clem has seen all your actions and she takes that into how she would probably deal with things in the future. So in my opinion it would make sense since she got the way she handles things from lee. ( telltale stated they didn't want a main character where you had to learn a lot of their past from.)

My last opinion is I feel like they need to at least include characters from this season to make the other feel connected. OH AND ONE MORE....would someone please quickly chop Lee's arm off....HURRY...thanks.

What are your opinions? you don't have to agree with mine.

Tbh I wouldn't wanna play a female protagonist.. I just imagined if I were playing Carley and a man hitting on me in EP3... eww. Naw it would kill a lot for me. Also I want to be the one saving people etc... I don't wanna be some beast-women.

I am totally against playing a female in these type of games and I highly doubt it would be a wise marketing strategy as the huge majority of players are still male.

    If she survives that is....

Sorry, not trying to be a downer but i'm pretty sure Ep5 will end with either Lee or Clem dieing depending what you do.
  • edited October 2012
If we don't see Clem's family in Ep 5 I think there is a good chance we could play as one of them, most likely her mother, in season 2. That way the stories connect & you finally get that closure that we may not get in Ep 5.

As I already said in an other post, I think most of the group will end up dead except for Clem, who will get saved by next season group. This gives some kind of linear continuity to the scenario and we would not get all crazy about getting a whole knew crew...

I'd like to play as someone from the current cast.
Either that or a whole new storyline from outbreak onwards

    Anything else wouldn't really work.
Anyways naming it Season 2 seems to suggest a continuation of some sort.
Series 2 would have been more apt if it was to be a new group.

Maybe we'll play as Clementine as she's grown'd up..
  • edited October 2012
That's probably the worst idea ever.
I have no idea why someone would think that's a good idea
    or even want that...

I think its either still going to be lee if the bite instead is a scratch from the wooden plank right next to where presumably lee got bitten which i doubt, clementine could be the one u play, but i dont think that they will actually jump like 9 to 12 years ahead in time just so u can play clem as she is allready older or barely an adult or a new character and maby just bring the old group into the second season some how.

The thing i realy would like to be in season 2 would be chosing ur gender it would probably be more interesting and they can have conversation differences, but it will take more production time and money to get the actor and ofc all of the lines, but if they maby make 1 episode not maby monthly i wouldnt see any problem in doing so.

That's... kind of offensive, you know. I'm not even sure what "some beast-women" is supposed to mean, but when you say, "I want to be the one saving people," is that supposed to imply that women are incapable of saving people? Because I think there are plenty of real-life examples to shoot down that theory.

As for the this marketing idea, (A) even if it's true that most of TWD's players are male, that's still not a terribly good reason to not have a female protagonist, and (B) Resident Evil, Silent Hill 3, Tomb Raider, The Longest Journey, Beyond Good & Evil, and Metroid all say hello. If having a guy hit on your PC really makes you that uncomfortable... well, don't save Doug.

As to the original question, I don't know. I'm not sure I can really see Clementine as the protagonist for Season 2. Not because she's a girl, but I think people want to play an adult character. And that would mean jumping so far ahead in the timeline that it could be kind of disorienting. Not to mention that you then run the risk of contradicting things that might happen in the comic later on.

Now that we more or less know that Lee's not going to survive, I suspect that any Season 2 would revolve around a whole new group of survivors. Then the question is, do we once again follow the new survivors from the beginning of the zombie apocalypse so we can see how those people adapt over time, or will we be picking up right where Season 1 leaves off?

For some reason while I was playing episode 4 I thought Molly would be a good choice as protagonist in season 2. She looked like she could take care of herself and seemed pretty badass. But, then I realized she died in some people's playthroughs, so I don't think that's going to happen. :(

I very much doubt we'll play as an 8 year old clementine and seen as the actual walking dead comics have only gone as far as about 3 years I seriously doubt we'll be playing add clementine in season 2!

If I'm honest I'd like to either play as Ben or Kenny in Season 2, it would be pretty cool if they took Clementime with them as Lees dying wish (If he dies). If not that I wouldn't like playing as a new group, but I'd like it to be after seaosn 1 time wise. But I think it would be cool to play as Kenny or Ben?

I expect that it will be a character as yet unknown to us. I'm still pretty pissed that TTG has killed off Lee.

Season 2 will follow the adventures of Zombie Lee. It will be "The Walking Dead, Season 2: The Quest for Brains."

    RDR Spoilers inbound:

Remember how the main character dies but you continue on as a new one? I would really, really, miss Lee but also think it would be pretty cool if halfway through the episode Lee turns or offs himself right before and for the rest of the episode you take control of Kenny. Game ends with Kenny and Clem sailing away into the sunset/sunrise. Season 2 you play as Clem 5-10 years later in a new group of survivors along with Kenny, but Kenny dies the first episode.

I fyou play as Clem, no matter what, you're gunna have a bad time!

I wouldn't mind finishing up the episode as Kenny. It'd be great way to end my bromance.

I only suggested it since everyone wants to play as a character from the current group. And clem is the only one with the background you know and would make the choices you made in season 1. If you played as kenny but you were a nice lee and saved everyone it just wouldn't work..

Kenny would be an apt Season 2 character. He's the only char who has survived thus far since Ep 1. At least one that's still in the group. And in alot of ways his character is "wiped clean" of any other responsibilities (Duck & Katjaa). Would be a pretty good decision on TTGs part IMO, to have him as the protag.

Like I said just wouldn't work imo. All of a sudden you're trying to save everyone you can when the kenny we all know leaves everyone behind.

The final episode isn't out yet. Also between seasons there is sometimes an interim of time between events of the prior one.

We really don't know what can happen from the next episode onwards, or even that episode. People change, especially in stressful situations. Perhaps Lee's death will have a personality change in Kenny, helping him to shed that selfish tendency.

In all actuality Kenny's selfishness stems from his mission-orientation. Get to the boat at all costs. As a sort of way to honor his fallen family, in some sort of way. His motivation while they were alive, was simply to keep them alive at all costs. This could translate to an interest in the remaining group.

I don't like Kenny but I would rather play as him instead of someone completely new. I don't want the new guy having to learn everything about the virus again. Would rather have someone who knows how bad it is and not some new guy that in his mind would be saying "were all gonna make it , we can all do it."

Dear God, I hope it's not Kenny. Actually, I'm still holding out hope that Kenny will end up as zombie chow in Ep. 5. The jerk. If he were the protagonist in Season 2, in order to stay true to the character, all of the dialogue options would have to involve him leaving his friends hanging and then yelling at people about not getting any respect for making the hard choice of leaving his friends hanging. The only character from the whole series I would be less interested in seeing as a protagonist would be Lilly.

If it's not going to be Clem or Molly, I'd really prefer that they just give us someone new for Season 2.

If Kenny is Season 2's protag then I am just not gonna buy that shyt...sorry guys, I've had enough of that man for one series :P

I would LOVE to play as an older Clem. Nothing wrong with female protagonists as long as you do them right (in fact, being female myself, I'd appreciate this a lot). But if the "canon" series has only gone 3 years then I don't see it happening unless they turn the game into an AU. Which...I would be okay with, actually.

Kenny can turn a new leaf in the final episode, and in Season two you can continue to try to be a better person, or fall back into old patterns of selfishness and survival over others.

The only 4 choices from our current group would be Kenny, omid christa or Molly, Ben is excluded because he could die.

Well, i am male and i prefer female protagonist.

Christa and Omid are too thin characters to choose them, Kenny just doesn't work cause one half of the players likes him and the others hate him, depending on choices you make (also, I know hes a family guy but I can't see him taking care of Clem, he didn't even want to help to rescue her at first). Molly would be cool, she can die in ep 4 though. Either way ep 5 has to tell us what Clems fate will be after Lees death. She will need another person to take care of her, could be Molly (who only helped Lee and Kenny because of Clem), mother, father or somebody completly new. This person could be easily the new main protaginist for season 2.

What if in Season 2, we played as Lee's ex-wife in Virginia?

I would rather have her be alone or god forbid, with Ben, then with that bastard Kenny.

But in all seriousness, they seem to be setting up either Omid and Christa, or those cancer survivors as being Clem's next caretakers. I mean, that's assuming that they don't do something completely insane like bring back her parents or kill her off.

I'm quite partial to our current characters, thank you. I hope that they return in season 2.

i agree with u on not wanting to play as a female but i do think u were a little sexiest but i think that ur right on alot of the players are male but the best option is opicking ur gender or just male

I wouldn't mind having Kenny as the protagonist for season 2 (maybe with Omid, Christa, and Clem tagging along for the ride). He's already a well developed character in season one, so it'd be interesting to see his story expanded. Plus in my playthrough, he's my best bud. :P

    Looks like it'll be Molly.

The developers had said there was a character they are excited to introduce us to in Ep. 4 which was obviously Molly. Why say that if she's only sticking around for 1 episode?

They've fleshed her out and have given her too much back story and general competence to never return to the character again. Besides, regardless of your choice, we never see her die.

A playable Clem wouldn't work. Making decisions/choices as a child would be boring and too limiting, and an older Clem would require a shift in the story by several years, beyond the time line of the comic even which I doubt TellTale will be given the creative freedom to do.

Why do people keep wanting to play as Clem? Do you guys really think your gonna have fun playing as a little girl in a ZA? I know I wouldn't. Since we know Lee aint gonna make it, I hope we get a new set of survivors and a new (male) Protagonist. And maybe have whoever survives the group, make appearances in S2. Maybe even have the player character some how meet with Clem if her parents are dead.

I want a new crew... but add Molly.

As someone on Team Kenny, I think playing as Kenny for season 2 would be TERRIBLE. We already know what he's like, and making choices based on what the player wants may be different from what Kenny actually wants. Lee works well for this since we jumped into his skin at the start of the apocalypse and got to dictate his personality from there on out, while Kenny already HAS a personality. Couple that with the fact that many people didn't side with Kenny and hate him, TTG would see a huge drop in sales if they went with Kenny as the player character in Season 2.

Agreed. I think a new set of survivors and protagonist will be good.

Regardless as to whether or not Molly had a good back story it is impossible for her to be the protagonist of the next season as she can die in episode 4 should you leave Clemintine in the house and fail to save her from the walker (although if you look into the wiki on the walking dead it does state that it is unknown as to whether or not she survived the walkers grouping around her.
