Well not necessarily the bad guy. The antagonist is the opposite of the protagonist, who is the main character. The protagonist doesn't have to be a good guy either. It could be a rock if anything.

I strongly doubt Pete will survive though. Unless they cut off his foot at the very beginning of episode 2.

Lee wouldn't have survived anyways unfortunately. His arm was bitten for a while before they cut it off, and the only way to survive a bite is if you amputate the limb as soon as your bit.
