  • I believe it sneaked in through the barricade they had surrounding their community. If Becca is able to sneak in and out of there without anyone knowing, I'm sure small animals would be able to as well.

  • There was some another dog that appeared besides Sam. Remember this scene when Shel finds the walker eating a puppy? I'm guessing most animals end up like this puppy, therefore explaining the lack of animals
