How do I import my save from Minecraft: Story Mode into Minecraft: Story Mode - Season Two?

In Minecraft: Story Mode – Season Two, there are two methods to import your save from Minecraft: Story Mode. Alternatively if you are unable to import your save or do not have one to import, you can use the Recreate feature to create a backstory.

For more information about the Recreate feature, please refer to the following support article: How do I use the Recreate feature to create my backstory?

In order to import your save, you will need to have completely played through Episodes 1 – 5 of Minecraft: Story Mode. If you have not completed through Episode 5 you will not be able to import your save.

We recommend that you also complete Episodes 6 – 8 on the same save file, but this step is not necessary. If you import your save into Minecraft: Story Mode - Season Two without playing Episodes 6 – 8, default choices will be assigned for those episodes.

There are two methods available for importing your save, either Local Importing or Cloud Importing. Some of these methods are not available on all platforms.

If you are playing on the Xbox 360, you will need to use the Local Import. Unfortunately, Cloud Importing is not available for the Xbox 360.

If you are playing on a mobile device, you will need to use the Cloud Import. Unfortunately, Local Importing is not available for mobile devices.

Local Import

If you are playing Season Two on the same computer or console that you played Minecraft: Story Mode on, once you start a new game in Season Two and select 'Continue Your Story' the game will automatically detect your save in Save Slot 1 and give you the option to import it. If your save is in a different slot it will not be detected.

Cloud Import

If you are playing Season Two on a different platform, or on a mobile device, you will need to use Cloud Saving. If you have already used Cloud Saving in Minecraft: Story Mode, launch Minecraft: Story Mode - Season Two and go to the Extras menu. Select 'Import Save from Telltale Account' and log into the same Telltale account that you were playing Minecraft: Story Mode on. Once the save is imported, when you start a new game and select 'Continue Your Story' the game should detect your saved game.

If you have not used Cloud Saving in Minecraft: Story Mode before, please launch that game and log into your Telltale Account. The game should then ask if you want to enable Cloud Saving. You can also enable or disable Cloud Saving by going to the main menu, opening the Settings menu, then opening the TTG Account menu and toggling the Cloud Save option.

Once you have enabled Cloud Saving, the save in Save Slot 1 will be uploaded to the cloud. Please make sure you have the save you wish to import in Save Slot 1.

For more information about Cloud Saving in Minecraft: Story Mode, please refer to the following support article: How to use Cloud Saving in Minecraft: Story Mode

Once your save has been uploaded to the cloud, close Minecraft: Story Mode and launch Minecraft: Story Mode – Season Two. Go to the Extras menu, select 'Import Save from Telltale Account', and log into the same Telltale account that you were playing Minecraft: Story Mode on. Once the save is imported, when you start a new game and select 'Continue Your Story' the game should detect your saved game.

If your save in Save Slot 1 is not being imported, there are a few potential reasons:

Not all Episodes are complete:
All five episodes of the Minecraft: Story Mode must be completed on a single save save file if you wish to import that save into Minecraft: Story Mode – Season Two. If you have not completed a full season playthrough, please do so before attempting to upload your save again.

Some of my choices are missing:
From the Main Menu in Minecraft: Story Mode select 'My Choices'. Ensure that all five episodes display five unique choices reflecting your decisions from the game. If you do not see exactly five choices from a particular episode, you can rewind to an earlier point in that episode and replay the remainder of the game. For instance, if you are missing a choice from Episode 3, you will need to rewind to a point before that choice is made and then replay Episode 3, 4 and 5 in order and to completion before your save will be seen as a complete season save.

While rewinding is a possible solution, we cannot guarantee this will force missing choices to appear in your My Choices menu. We realize that this process can be very time consuming, especially if the missing choice is from an early episode in the season, so we recommend using the Onboarder feature. This feature will allow you to recreate your previous save in a few minutes by answering a series of questions regarding your style of play from Minecraft: Story Mode.

I finished Minecraft: Story Mode, but rewound on my main save file to experience different choices:
If you've ever rewound to an earlier point in the game on the same save file, you will need to finish that episode again, as well as all subsequent episodes, before your save will be seen as a complete season save. This does not apply if you chose to save progress to a different save file when you rewound.

We realize that this process can be very time consuming, especially if you rewound to an early episode in the season, so we recommend using the Onboarder feature. This feature will allow you to recreate your previous save in a few minutes by answering a series of questions regarding your style of play from Minecraft: Story Mode.

I finished Minecraft: Story Mode, but rewound on a different save file to experience different choices:
If you've ever rewound to an earlier point in the game on a different save file and then completed the remaining episodes, this save should be seen as a complete season save. However, it is possible that when saving progress to a new save, one or more choices prior to your rewind point were not properly applied to the new save file. This can be checked by viewing your 'My Choices' screen as outlined above in the sub-section 'Some of my choices are missing'.

Unfortunately, if all your choices are present on your 'My Choices' screen, yet your save is still not importing, your save may be corrupted. As this save would no longer be usable, a new complete season save would be needed. We realize that this process can be very time consuming, so we recommend using the Onboarder feature. This feature will allow you to recreate your previous save in a few minutes by answering a series of questions regarding your style of play from Minecraft: Story Mode.
